  1. QUESTION from Northern California… have you experienced any mosaic virus on a pumpkin or squash plant..from an aphid infestation

  2. I planted all of my seed I received this past week. I am so excited to get my late summer veggies going!

  3. Great tips! Thanks everyone! Kim, I have your late summer seeds planted in my garden and I'm proud to say they've all sprouted and are taking off! For the topic of this video, my tip would be to err on the side of more sun than less sun if you have the choice (don't be afraid of sun). I sowed some greens this summer in a part of the yard that receives part shade because I thought that would protect them from the heat, but the seedlings never really took off. I suppose it's easier to shield against too much sun and summer heat than it is to add sun where you need it ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Checking the garden daily is the #1 tip IMO. Itโ€™s the only way folks can learn from the plants how much water & feeding they want in their specific garden. Youโ€™re so very right that itโ€™s the only way to catch bugs, disease @ the start of it so you can nip it in the bud (so to speak ๐Ÿ˜‰). I say if one works, then when you get home, slip on those shorts & flip flops, grab an iced tea & take a relaxing walk thru the garden to come down from the day. Iโ€™m smack in the Central Valley CA between Sac & SF, so when weโ€™re in the 100s, then San Fran & surrounding east/north bay areas can get to high 90s! You should see the traffic coming from Sacramento on the weekends as everyone heads to the Bay Area beaches. Itโ€™s insane! San Fran does usually cool down pretty quick @ night, another reason all of us north of them flock down there when weโ€™re 105-110. Itโ€™s been a very strange winter/spring/summer for CA. I really miss the unusually temperate spring we were having! Wonder if Fall will be hot as usual… Anyway, thanks for doing these live vids. Theyโ€™re helpful even if I donโ€™t catch it live. Stay cool my CA sister!

  5. I'm in Georgia zone 8 and I am very much thinking about Fall/winter Lol. I think some good tips is what can survive all winter in some places. I had Kale last year that had ice all over it because we got down below 20 degrees. It looked like crap but perked up when the weather changed. I had kale survive in to the spring until it started bolting. Collards, out of the brasica family, is the most cold tolerant surviving down to around 20 degrees or so. Garlic lived all winter and of course was ready by June. Really have to know your first freeze range, how long it takes to mature and what the freeze tolerant is of various things. If one is a kale lover, they may be in a ton of luck

  6. my garden is completed dead i am in nevada and i am in the 120 is to much for my plants i still have same but must of my tomatoes, and cucumbers and sweet peppers died ,well i have to prepare my garden for the fall season ..i just love that season…!!

  7. WOW! I planted 1 potato as an experiment in a 5 gallon pot thinking i would get maybe a couple…..
    I harvested 3.3 lbs… super happy!! next year….. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Could you tell me who makes your hose sprayer??? Or where I can order it? Actually even if you recommend it!? โค Thank you!!!

  9. even a plastic bag will work for shading. just push a couple stakes in the ground about the width of the bag and pin the bag to the stakes with clothespins. i used 30 gallon black plastic bags for new starts to provide afternoon shade and it actually worked well. So this provided shade from the hot afternoon sun from about 3 o'clock on, and since it's just on the west side of the plants they still get plenty of air and any rain that might occur.

  10. i did loose more squash plants to the vine Borers. the moths are still active laying eggs on the squash stems even up to Mid August. About to plant another batch now and hopefully they will be safe now.

  11. if the plants are yellowing and constantly struggling then the veg is apt to be bitter. so the plants have to be kept healthy with that dark green lushness. soil amendments such as iron or sulphur might be needed as well as trace elements, and microbes to bring that soil alive.
