Garden update! What did I find?

Cleaned up the small hot tunnel today and found some thing survived and I’m hoping that they will thrive. Walk-through with me so I can show you what we got and white made it through that extreme cold blast.

  1. So happy that some stuff was spared from the polar freeze!

And yes! I'm dyyyyying to plant! Lol! I did just start some hot pepper seeds, eggplant, some cool weather seeds & some herbs yesterday.

  2. Looks great! We lost what I didn’t harvest before the freeze. Ready to start seeding out and gear up for spring!! Thank you for your videos.

  3. So glad you didn't loose everything. Ordering onion starts from Dixon Dale Monday. That's all I can handle right now. Got a canning challenge to focus on 😂.

  4. Considering the cold temps you had, things looks good. My advice on the cabbage, you’re a good gardener with great instincts, do what you feel you should do. God bless.

  5. Jill, take this video…and put it on your desk top. The next time any down thoughts pop into your head, "LISTEN" to this video.. Don't watch.. listen! You had me giggling! Why? 🤔🤔 Your voice, speaks your heart in this one! No worries, no fears-YES-a kid in a candy store. 😊

  6. Looking good. You did a great job with the cleanup. And your stuff looks surprisingly good for how cold it got. You will have 2 beautifully flourishing greenhouses again before you know it.

  7. I don't have a high tunnel but I did cover what I could . The only thing that survived here untouched is the spinach , funny thing it was not covered . My strawberries survived , about 95% . My walking onions are fine too . I might have a hand full of carrots that make it . Life goes on .
Your garden looks good in there.

  8. So excited for you. Looks like things did better than expected.

  9. Whoaaa Nellie!!! Give those spring and summer seeds to a friend and tell them to not let you have them under any circumstances until such and such date….lolol Can you believe the weather. It's awful. I was out in the garden yesterday measuring off and planning and chomping at the bit to start throwing seeds all over the place!!

Ok…temperance and patience. You guys have done an awesome job on clearing that out…..Really doesn't look like the same place and you would never know 9 degrees and extended below freezing hours came for a visit there. Your joy is evident in your voice and your countenance, Jill. It has us laughing. Happy for ya and anyone else who is having anything come back up.

Planning my seed trays today and will burn off my garden spot soon and bring in compost to lightly till in…..building up garden plot…sunken in. Shopping around for the woven weave garden fabric to lay down to stop most weeds. Being alone I just cannot handle lots of weeding and all my other chores also. So there…..if anyone knows of a quality fabric and good place to buy I would appreciate a shout out on that.
Thanks to all and Jesus bless.

  10. Jill, on that tiny cabbage head with the "shrink-wrapped" brown outer leaves, you'll want to peel those off or at least loosen that up so a few leaves under them can unfurl. The plant needs a few open leaves to feed itself as it grows more leaves to form the head. If it can't open up any leaves, it'll probably rot.
I'm glad I waited to pull things out myself. I'm also finding quite a bit that looks like it'll make it. Yay!
You are certainly doing it right, sweet Jill! Blessings and a prosperous year have taken root and are flourishing for you. Well done!
    Love and hugs.

  11. That is very encouraging! Looking good my friend! Bok choy is my favorite to grow because of its hardiness. Thanks for sharing!

  12. This very mild weather has me worried that the summer will be another scorcher like last year. 😢 I guess that depends if we are still in a La Niña pattern. Things looking good, Jill! I may plant in my Greenstalk just to see what happens. Potatoes going in soon too!

  13. Be glad you can start as early as you do. Back home, northern Indiana, we didn’t start until Memorial Day and done by Labor Day.
I like it better down here. Much better. Thanks Jill and God bless!

  14. Looks good Jill ❤️ I'm making a cattle panel greenhouse as well as some new raised beds and a seed starting table …a big list but your videos make me excited to grow 👍 lots of love from west Texas #Godwillprovide

  15. Even when you are dealing with freeze damage, you are an encouragement! You are appreciated by so many! ❤

  16. God's plants are amazing! Wonderful that you have so many pulling through. Started seeds for various peppers, Black Krim tomato, cilantro, and leeks. Got one garden spot ready for root vegetables and plan to plant turnips, radishes, carrots, and some potatoes in another couple of weeks. Have row covers ready – just in case. Blessings!

  17. Actually I’m winter sowing started today , I live in Houston and did this last year and it
Was very successful, your high tunnel looks good you still have some stuff growing
Keep the faith, keep on gardening.
