Sounds of the Zen Garden

Iconic of Japanese gardens, the Zen-Style Garden is designed to invite contemplation and seclusion. This dry rock garden surrounds massive boulders placed by designer of The Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden Hoichi Kurisu. Nearby, Meijer Gardens’ acclaimed bonsai collection is thoughtfully displayed.

The dry rock garden is first smoothed out, cleared of debris and the stones are wet down. The designs are then carefully raked around the boulders, changing depending on the time of year.

Enjoy the soothing sounds of the raking process.

  1. Good video. Absolutely lovely stuff, really appreciate the effort that went into explaining things visually with camera shots rather than dialogue – this made for some very comfy viewing.
