    There is no prepping for that. They said one person was going to sandbag in front of house. Even if she had it wouldn't have saved her house,water was to high. Mudslides,hurricanes,floods,fires,you have warnings leave. Take meds,important papers,photos,and go.Remember films of this yours preps etc will be gone,your life and animals can't be replaced.I've been in a tornado no warning sirens then,it went to end of street and jumped to houses across highway behind us. They were flattened.I've been in a couple blizzards,we luckily didn't lose power. I do believe some areas are just prone to this,choose not to live there.

    I live in Mariposa not to far from Yosemite National Park a lot of roads are closed due to flooding and there is a lot of mud and rock slides between us and Yosemite National Park we have got more then 10 inches of rain sense of Friday the 6th

    Well I was about to say its a darn good thing my sister lives on a side of a mountain until I saw the slides, I am wondering how the water levels are at the damns ???

    I live in CA. CA never fixes any issues for droughts, floods, fires, faulty damns, deltas, earthquakes etc. I remember CA floods in the 90's esp. in San Luis Obispo County/City (30 yr. resident). The same areas flooded back then are flooded now. CA is a doomed state. Newscum and Ellen need to repent…mother nature my eye.

    Good afternoon Autmnettes, so far in my area we have blackouts, major flooding. However Wilton is a wrap I have read. I have been online trying to find locations to go to in the event of evacuation, can't find anything for a large group of people only up to fifty people.

    Yes there are people who prepare for this. They know they live in those zones. Many different things can happen. Usually once they get the alert they grab everything they prepared and any animals if they can and don't go back until it's safe. There are different levels of flooding and even on flat land depending on various things will determine how that house will flood and sometimes there is nothing but to hope for the best knowing it will wash away in a mudslide or whatever. Just like fires there are always those people who will not leave and choose to perish in their homes. I guess it also depends on what sort of insurance they have in those zones. Not everyone chooses to purchase the insurance so there is that. So much comes along with this. Here Blizzards happen all the time. Most people do not lose power and even then not for long. It's the people in the mountains who have wires go down because they don't have underground wiring and it will go down. Other than that, the only reason besides that people lose power is if someone hits something that knocks it out. There is a reason smart people in those zones have certain things and learn certain things as well. On the Plaines there is a part of tornado alley, even if there is no siren warning those locals know what to look for and what to do in those zones. You will always get people that laugh at them etc. Until it happens to them and they are devastated after that. So so much. People are people I guess.
