Seed Haul and Varieties 2023 | Heirloom and Hybrids for a Desert Garden

Hello folks!
Today I am going over most of the varieties I will be growing in my high desert garden in southern New Mexico. Some of them are new vegetable varieties and some are tried and true favorites that I have found do well on this hot and dry homestead. If you would like to see a review of my 2022 gardening year, please view this video here: https://youtu.be/Z3xu5-5W-8U

After many trials and tribulations last summer, I have changed up some of my varieties to have more success in the production of the garden this year. I would love to hear your feedback on any of the new varieties I bought, and I hope my experiences can help your garden to grow in some way 🙂

  1. Good Sunday morning Fireside Farms. Those heirlooms and hybrids for 2023 look perfect for growing in a high desert garden.. Thanks for sharing all your great gardening tips and Happy New Year!!

  2. Considering that most people don't take enough records to know what varieties grow best in his/her garden, saving seeds from hybrids is just another trial with unknowns.
I saved seeds from apache peppers (a hybrid). The first set (Apache F2) gave me one plant different from the rest. The different plant was more hardy. I saved seeds from that one and was happy with the results. Now I'm on growing the F3 generation.
