Look up the ARKstorm scenario that California scientists have been predicting for years, based on past, infrequent megastorm flooding events, in which a shift in normal weather patterns had rain like this dumping on California for weeks, even months. The most recent such long-duration event was in 1861-1862, which flooded Sacramento for over a month… that storm was the impetus for the city's current levee system, but of course, when something doesn't happen for 150 years, people tend to forget just have extreme it can get when it does happen.

A scientist friend who had a contract for inspection (15 yrs ago) and how the water accumulates within the dikes told me he feels that a New Orleans type flood event is only a matter of time in the delta/dikes areas of the Central Valley.

The homeless up and down the delta is so depressing. When I grew up in NorCal I don’t remember ever seeing homeless camps along the levees. California looks like a ghetto compared to our Allie’s in Europe who aren’t as rich and powerful as us.

When I heard "run to fail" I just felt horrible for the Natomas Basin. You're all living on a Shoestring with 8 people working on behalf of 130~ thousand. Airport, Instertate, major arteries and so forth. Thoughts from the Sierra. We are trying to keep our lights on but understand others have liquid to deal with.

The Sacramento valley used to be a rice growing area. What does rice need? Lots of water. Nature wins again.
It’s inhumane to let these people live like this. As many studies have found they mostly have substance abuse issues. So get them inside and get them off of drugs etc and physically also dried out and on to jobs and a normal life
