Red Granadilla or Scarlet Passion Flower is a introduce plant native to South America. It is a Vine mostly cultivate as a Ornamental plant in all region of Sri Lanka. A very beautiful Passionflower, which jumps out at you! Its large, scarlet flowers can be seen from afar, amidst its elegant, three-lobed leaves. Its green fruits are edible. It is a fast-growing plant that will cover your pergolas in the blink of an eye if the winter is mild, or decorate your verandas or bathrooms, as a shower ceiling for example.

Red passion flower is a quick-growing, flowering plant that is easy to care for. Red passion flower vines grow well in a container or planted outside in Zones 9 and higher. Since it is a tropical plant, it is cold-sensitive, tolerating temperatures below 40 degrees F for only a short period of time. The beautiful, eye-catching flowers make the plant so popular. The vine produces spectacular blooms starting in winter that continue through springtime.

Passiflora coccinea (common names scarlet passion flower, red passion flower) is a fast-growing vine. The vine is native to northern South America. It produces edible fruit. Most plants cultivated as Passiflora coccinea turn out to be Passiflora miniata Vanderp Native to South America, Passiflora coccinea (Red Passion Flower) is a tropical, tendril-climbing, evergreen vine boasting incredibly showy scarlet-red flowers, 3-4 in. across (7-10 cm), adorned with white, purple, and yellow crowns. The ravishing blossoms are followed by egg-size, 2 in. across (5 cm), edible and tasty passion fruits. They first appear green, striped, and mottled, before turning golden yellow when ripe. The foliage consists of single, oblong, medium green leaves which create a perfect backdrop for the flowers.

Red Passion Flower can bloom throughout the year, but its peak season is in summer and fall. Thrives in full sun or part shade in fertile, moist, well drain soils. Water freely when in growth and keep just moist in winter. Provide support for climbing stems and shelter from cold, drying winds. Best flowering occurs in full sun, but this flowering vine tolerates light shade.

  3. Very nice red flowers. I have a passion flower, but mine is the one with the purple colored flowers with a unique inside pattern. It vines out with the leaf that splits into 3. Unfortunately due to the wind lately, my vine trellis has been having trouble staying up during these storms. I like this vine that you are showing.
