  1. Great details in this video! I have an even smaller yard and full sun area than you, how many pods do you think I should start?

  2. Very satisfying video! Zone 8b here in western Oregon and just now learning about cold stratification. I'm curious, do you find that just throwing the packets in the freezer works just fine? Seems easier and less messy then the cold/wet paper towel refrigerator option I keep seeing suggested.

  3. Those cell trays are very cool. I haven't heard of them. Do they come in bigger packs than what you have ?
1st seeds for 2023. Very exciting. I started some snaps last night in soil blocks…im new to this method so we will see….

  4. Love your videos! Your garden size speaks to so many of us. To save time, I use an empty tray to press into a tray with soil, instead of my fingers. And an inexpensive tablecloth with a thin foam backing will help with the antique table and also muffle some of the harder working noises. Thanks for the great videos!

  5. I, too, started way too many plants last year, but in some respects, it being my first year, didn't know any better. This video supports those of us who want small cut flower areas that we can grow smaller quantities.
I'm zone 7, so I will start seeds in late Feb and have incorporated your calendar idea by setting the weeks from my last frost date and working towards that date. Thanks for that!!! And thanks for all you've shared for the backyard gardener who wants cut flowers!!

  6. Great video ! I'm in Amarillo Tx zone 7a so a bit different than you. I've really enjoyed your videos; I've just discovered your channel. I look forward to seeing your garden success.

  7. It's good to have a channel like yours, that shows how to start and grow flowers on a more normal (yard size) scale! Also, your new studio setup is so pretty and welcoming! Great job!

  8. Great video and advice. Thanks for the tips on the new products. Love your new "play area". It has a very pretty and relaxing feel .

  9. I got my seed heat mat today and my 2nd grow light is on the way!!! Countdown to Verbascum (southern charm) and then my yellow bell tomatoes…

  10. Amanda, those new seed starting trays look fantastic!
If you want more study plants, try winter sowing in milk jugs outside = great method!

  11. Good Wednesday morning Amanda. Those seed starting trays look perfect and of course so does your plant arrangement. Thanks for sharing another great video with all your fantastic and inspiring gardening tips. 😁🌼🌼 .

  12. Thank you for sharing the process and your seeding tools. I was just looking at purchasing one of those plastic potting trays but the mat seems like a much better option for me (less hassle to worry about storage).

Also picked up a tip about cold stratifying strawflowers.

So glad the algorithm recommended your video. Off to look at more

  13. So great that you were able to get the first sets of seedlings started. One thing I would like is if you are not on facebook, tik toc or instagram which I will use I would like to see the updates on You tube as well. Just to be fair. Otherwise love your videos.

  14. Those new seed starting trays look very interesting. I agree they would give you more options that the big 72 cell trays. They also look to be much less flimsy. The only plants I could use 72 of would probably be marigolds as I like to plant them in mass. Good luck! Love your new studio space.

  15. Glad you're going to be a guinea pig for the Vego seed trays! I may try to start a few things in my garage (with grow lights and heat mats) this spring, so this was a timely video for me! I have one of those greenhouse shelf units that kept my coleus all snug and happy on 1, 9 and 15 degree nights. I'm going to try to get some of the cupcake type zinnias going early this year; in previous years, they just have single blooms, which I've read us due to our heat. Have you had success with these, mainly the zinderella type?

  16. Does anyone have any tricks on how to get the little seedlings out of those little cell without them falling apart ?

  17. Great video and those seed trays look fantastic. I also can relate to the small garden and not wanting massive of seedlings. I'm trying winter sowing this year, for the first time, in water jugs. I seeded hardy annuals the 1st week in January.
