  1. I was lucky enough to grab a Witch Hazel this last fall. Is this similar to the Lorapetalum? The flowers seem to be look a likes!

  2. I remember asking you last spring what that was. I may have to ask the only 2 small places somewhat near me if they could get some in.

  3. Hi Janey 🌺 I love the flowers and the leaves colors of this plant , I have it in my garden . Have anice day .🌻🌺🌻

  4. Have been thinking of you this past week. I’m assuming you have missed this crazy flooding we are having. I am just out of Modesto, we have missed it too. But WOW crazy!

  5. Hi Janey, although this plant is not suited to my gardening zone I do appreciate your plant profiles! I also love all those plants in your background of this video, but alas I will have to wait until May 😌🌸❤️🇨🇦!

  6. Morning Janey! Love the seeding room. (By the way, I totally LOL’d at your ‘short’ re the closet. Hahahaha) I’m 9a Texas Gulf Coast and Lorapetalum loves our high heat and high humidity. Mine are on the west side of the house and have no problem with that terrible afternoon heat. They even survived the catastrophic freeze a couple of years ago with just a little bit of protection.

If anyone is in high heat and humidity, I highly recommend. It’s a great plant.

  7. I loved ours, but they were mislabeled and weren't dwarfs! We dug them up and gave them to our neighbor. Then I bought two PW dwarfs and they litterly burnt up in the summer from hades. No rain for 3 months and so hot! They got watered twice a day and they were the only plants that died in that flower bed. But I'm going to try again this year.

  8. Perfect indoor setting for your video. I enjoyed learning about this plant and from your description of it being a peaceful spot for the eye to rest I thought of it as the greenery in a bouqet of flowers.

  9. I love that you're making a video in your plant room I think it's great. The Lorapetalum is beautiful. It is not a perennial in my area. I wonder if I can overwinter it in my greenhouse with heat.

  10. Good Thursday morning Janey. The garden is looking great. I'm definitely going to plant some Chinese Fringe Flower. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful week and thanks again for all your wonderful gardening tips. 😊🌼

  11. I live in a very hot, dry area and my Loropetatulum do very well. I have both the dwarf jazz hands pink and white. During the hot summer days, I do have to give them extra water and I do notice a little scorching on the plants after extreme heat days (110+)…but they bounce back beautifully. All around a great plant for zones 9b. 🌿 M

  12. hello garden friends!
after watching the video, I think loropetalum will be a great fit for my garden! but just in case I will leave my question:
i'm looking for recommendations on trees or shrubs that have dark leaves (purple or red) that stay on the plant during autumn/winter. thanks!!

  13. I always wanted a dwarf purple daydream lorapetalum but live in zone 6b / 7. Think it would survive if planted in a non windy spot & covered during freezing temps ?

  14. Fully agree. I love my loropetalum! I have one in front of a lemon Cyprus ( chartreuse) and a deep green arborvitae and the 3 colours look sensational together xx

  15. I was waiting to see what zone this Lorapetalum could survive in. I'm in 6b 😢! Oh well, I will enjoy it in your garden from afar. Thanks for sharing — it's really pretty.

  16. Just a caution….here in the south they have become invasive. I remove about 5 seedlins a year….esp. the purole leaf ones….

  17. I live in zone 6b and have been thinking about trying to push the boundaries on this one. I have a micro climate on the south side of my house that is protected. It’s worth a shot. We definitely get the hot hot dry summers where I live.

  18. I have a nearly 30 year old Lorapetalum Chinense (Green foliage with white blooms) in my garden and just love it. It has such a lovely fragrance when blooming too. Mine was planted in my front yard on a slope to balance out the low side of my garden. It has grown to be at least 15’ tall, probably taller. I truly love it and am glad you put a spotlight on this plant. I prefer the green foliage with the white flower varieties myself and I am sad that not many people plant this one.

  19. How and when do you prune this plant. Actually this would be helpful info on each of the plants you choose to focus on. Love this series. Thank you for all your helpful advice.
