Hello everyone,
Here’s a impromptu video on my own personal backyard and the WINTER VEGETABLES that I’ve been growing and harvesting. I live in a pretty urban area, and MY BACKYARD IS REALLY SMALL. With raised beds, I have been able to practice BIOINTENSIVE GARDENING to maximize my harvest yields. After years of growing and trying out many different vegetables and varieties, these are TRIED & TRUE crops that have worked well for me in my garden. I live in ZONE 9A WITH COASTAL INFLUENCE IN THE BAY AREA CALIFORNIA. Being close to a body of water means that I have much milder climates – never too hot and never too cold. This Winter has been dry, warm and short. Spring is starting early in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA (My Dogwood is already blooming). I will be swapping out crops little by little to transition into SPRING/SUMMER VEG and to continue SUCCESSION GARDENING.
WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE VARIETIES OF TOMATOES & PEPPERS – I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW…
Mine are Japanese Black Trifele, Super Sweet 100, Sungold, Gold Medal, Paul Reobeson and Green Grape. I’d love to experiment with new varieties (ones that work in cooler temps) – PLEASE DROP A LINE WITH YOUR FAVORITE ONES.
Thanks for watching~
Happy Gardening!
Susan

Love your tour. I find it inspirational. I see your garden is in part shade. How much sun does it get? I have a raised bed that gets light shade mostly in the winter and some mid to late pm sun and wonder if that's enough for edibles.
How lucky you are. You can grow vegetables even in January. Here in Toronto we have to wait 5 month for the soil warm up
Nice garden ! !
🤘
are those mammoth peas? are you doing a fall garden .. would love to see the sucession of succession gardening!
hi… new subscriber here and new to gardening too. and were almost neighbors..almost.. im from daly city. you have a very nice garden and very inspiring.
Impressive garden! How often and how long do you run your drips? (I'm in the Bay Area too). I've had a hard time figuring out the right amount. Watering deep and rarely has often left me with dead or poorly yielding plants.
How many raised beds do you have and i how many square feet do you cultivate winter 2020 vegetables
Hi from Walnut Creek
Hello, I just moved to the area. How did you deal with the clay soil? Did you do any amendments to let the roots penetrate and keep water draining?
What a beautiful garden!
