Edible Gardening

Back in the Garden at the New House

Okay….let’s get back to the garden, this time at the new house! This sweet storybook cottage needs some shelter, shade and privacy, so starting with some trees, let’s get the garden infrastructure underway. Nuttal oaks, October Glory Maples, and a sentimental Caddo sugar maple to begin. Hopefully as early as this week!

  1. In our city. The first five feet from the edge of the road in. Belongs to the city. Everyone, most people maintain the lawn or the side. However, I would check with your city before installing the trees. Just to make sure! 🌳🤔🌳 look forward to all the yard development. 👩🏻‍🌾👍🏼🌳🌿

  2. Just think of viewing these improvements from your amazing new bathroom! Love the elegant sweater you are wearing at the very beginning. May I ask the brand, please?

  3. Linda, are you going to be writing another wonderful book about your new home? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

  4. Love your ideas regarding the oak trees but do you actually own that piece of land ? Where I live the city owns it and you can’t plant anything yourself – the city has to do it ? Before you spend $$$$ on trees you may want to look into getting permission first

  5. Well Miss Linda, you will be able to do a drive by and see your beautiful tulips in the Spring. What is the distance to your fairytale home from the storybook home? So looking forward to the next video. Constantly checking for notifications.💕🌳🪴☀️

  6. How exciting. Thank you for including us in your wonderful planing of your new sweet adventure.
    Praying for you all

  7. Lol, your purse hooks are called shower curtain hooks. Many uses

  8. I'm so looking forward to your garden and decorating plans for your new home!New starts are always exciting I have lived in my home 53 years and sometimes want to chuck it all and start new through you I can.Thank you for the vlogs

  9. I was born and grew up in Vermont. Sugar maples were all around me. The fall show they put on is amazing. They have a special place in my heart.

  10. Hi Linda. I’m so enjoying watching you on this journey! Did you have to get permission from your city to put trees in the planting strip? Where I’m from, the city has an easement over that area and you have to get permission before planting there.

  11. I am ready to hold your hand Linda while you take on this new adventure. It is going to be spectacular!

  12. Boy, you are lucky that you are permitted to plan your own trees in the strip of grass closest to the road. Here in Boston, that green area between sidewalks& road is city property, and only the city can plant tree or anything else there.

  13. I love October Glory’s! I have 2 young ones, about 6ft talk, & they were beautiful this fall….& they keep their leaves the longest time in the fall.

  14. So I am so curious about the front door opening while you were talking about shelf liners. That was a little freaky! Of- coarse, I assumed someone was coming in with moving in things and stopped when they heard you filming.

Also, I am very interested in how you develop the front and side of your yard exposed to everyone. I have a corner lot now and my front yard is extremely small and landscaping was included when I built my villa. I have people walking by all day and evening long, so I hope to develop a garden from front corner to back corner. Give the neighbors something to enjoy as they go by.

  15. I’m surprised those trees/area lining the sidewalk do not belong to the city. In my case the city is very quick to replace one of their trees in order to maintain the canopy.🌲❤️🇨🇦

  16. This was wonderful. I loved seeing and hearing your tree plans and getting to understand the current look of your new garden. This corner cottage absolutely needed your joy for landscaping. 🥰🌳🌷🪴🌸🌳

  17. Since your new home is in a historic district, do you have to get approval from a historical society about what types of trees and other landscape you plant in your yard? Very exciting plans….can't wait to see the trees in the ground!

  18. Looking forward to watching your new garden grow.
In my city, we are not allowed to plant anything deeper than 2 inches on the boulevard (the strip between the city sidewalk and street). The homeowners are to mow the grass, but the city is the only entity that can plant trees/shrubs in that area.

  19. Can’t wait to follow the storybook garden! I’m on a corner lot as well, so double excited. I landscaped it myself, except the fence and trees. The best trees I chose were columnar beeches (because my lot is narrow) The lime green leaves in the spring are amazing

  20. Blank slates are fun! We moved into our house 30 years ago and yard had nothing but a row of privet hedges. Can’t wait to see what you do!

  21. So glad your back in the groove.! I have missed you so much ! Cant wait to see what you will do next!!!! I love the new adventure you are taking us on!!!!!

  22. So exciting to landscape ! Love the round window in the door …LOVE the rolling terrace with the steps – that is a very cool feature. Neighbourhood looks really cool

  23. This is exciting! You mentioned October Glory maples. Several years ago we planted them up both sides of our longer drive….all 40 of them! They are brilliant in the Fall and they hold their leaves longer than any maples around. We absolutely enjoy them.

  24. 🌿💗 I am so excited about this journey as I start my new “clean slate” garden from scratch along with you. I’ve been watching and following since early 2019 and this makes me so happy. I may just follow your lead. We may very well end up with twin gardens. 😂

  25. The city should replant those trees by the street. I would look into it. Looks like city property easement to me. I love the leaning cedar.

  26. Please do a meet and greet in Birmingham!! Have been following since 2019 and would love to see you!

  27. It's a great new house, Linda! Congratulations and enjoy! I know we will all enjoy watching you decorate and landscape.

  28. Excited to go along with you on this new adventure!! I hope you do come to Birmingham Al. Be sure and keep us up I would love to meet you!!! Roll Tide😉👍👍☺️
