Queen Victoria and Prince Albert bought and built a wonderful private country retreat called Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. A tranquil country estate for Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their 9 children to escape from London life. Queen Victoria would die in her bedroom on the estate in 1901.
Join us for a walking tour and history of Osborne House taking us on a journey to find out what Queen Victoria enjoyed away from the pomp and pageantry of London.

  1. Haya. I have been 3 times, the 3rd was last May. The outside footage you took reminded me of my day I was there, which had dramatic moody sky's even though the day was a hot day, it made the house seem so alive, not to dissimilar your some of your outside footage 🙂Did you manage to find the faces in the fabric on the chaise long in Victoria's room? There was so much to like, see & do, the only thing I missed was Victoria's changing carriage. To think we have all walked where each other has walked 🙂 Stunning filming & wonderful story telling as always. Very much enjoyed, as I always do. Thanku so much for taking us along & for sharing. x

  2. Dear Albert was not an architect, bless his heart, but far better than Balmoral design!

  3. The boys are back with another excellently produced touristic overview! Never did get "offshore" to any of the Islands around the British coast in my former traveling days. Certainly easier to enjoy it from a comfortable rocking chair these days.
I'll have to check if there is 1 for the Channel Isles – always would have liked to have visited Gerald Durrell's Zoo on Jersey. A visit to Marwell wasn't a bad substitute though. 🙂

  4. Interesting to note that the Old Queen would have had State Papers marked "Top Secret" stashed around the house. Where's "M" when you need him?! 🙄😉

  5. I was there on the 8th September and I totally agree, it is a magnificent place. You truly feel you have taken a peek into the lives of Victoria and Albert. The beach is so peaceful and the scenery is amazing. I went by hovercraft from Portsmouth to IOW and back. It was on the way back I learnt of the passing of Queen Elizabeth. Thank you for posting this and letting me see it all again. Absolutely beautiful place.

  6. I just love all of your videos! Congrats to you both. Lovely work, well filmed and beautifully narrated. Loved this visit of Osborne House, so peaceful. Thank you!

  7. Great job again, l didn't realise there was so much to see. Very informative and well worth a visit.🦘🐨🦘🐨😷

  8. Wonderful to see how Queen Victoria enjoyed her role as mother to her nine children.

  9. That was absolutely awesome. What a place that is. Really loved that. Thanks so much for taking me along. Please take care

  10. Thank you guys for another lovely video. Loved the surroundings and the view of the beach. My favourite was the lovely swiss cottage!

  11. Absolutely exquisite and beautiful house!!! Osborne House has been one of my favorite places for many years. It has been a dream of mine to visit this particular place. Thank you for making one of my dreams come true!!! I am saving this video to look at it again. May I suggest that you do a video on the Ilse of Man, please? I would like to see this particular place too! Thank you so much again! Cassandra 👍

  12. Brilliant! Beautiful!! You both do a Great job, filming and information etc, Thankyou!! The places you go too, remind me of home thoroughly enjoyable!! Carol. Ex-Brit, New Zealand 👍❤👍

  13. A lovely tour. I remember visiting just over 10 years ago and the tour guide singled me out because I am the same height as Queen Victoria

  14. The video is beautiful,👌 the palace is gorgeous. But time is inexorable. Only objects and buildings silently testify to past events.🙂🏛🏚🏛⏳⏳⏳⏳⏳🕰

  15. Looks like a most wonderful life to have lived there.Really beautiful! Thanks for the tour and the history of The Osborne House,Guys!

  16. Wonderful tour of Osborne House and grounds. What a shame to see what has been done indoors to the Swiss Cottage. The original decor has been ruined with the so-called exhibition.

  17. Magnifique! Such a combination of cinematography and historical perspective – bravo! I have read several biographies of Queen Victoria and Albert and the importance of Osborne House to them both. Your vlog brings the home to vivid life. Great job!

  18. I can see why this was a favourite place of Queen Victoria’s. Privacy and the ability for the whole family to relax. The grounds and the pavilion are beautiful. The dining room ceiling, the drawing room and Albert’s study were my favourite. The children must have spent hours in that playhouse. Thanks so much Simon and Will. It was a real treat having a tour of Osborne House ❤Edit:I have no idea why but every time I comment on your channel my comment is duplicated, I have to delete it, do the same again and it’s only on the third attempt it doesn’t duplicate. So from now on I’m not going through this 3x, there’ll be a duplicate 😬

  19. Wow, your knowledge and English diction make your tours most enjoyable and easy to hear. Thank you for sharing this incredible place. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸

  20. Loved this very informative video. Beautifully done. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire views and commentary. 🇺🇸

  21. I've read that there was some criticism of the design and color back when it was built, but to me the Italianate style suits the seaside location. The towers remind me of photos I've seen of the central square in Sienna, Italy. I'm sure the views are terrific. Great choice to start with the gardens and seaside views. That bathing machine! I can just imagine Prince Albert's joy at creating a German-style retreat to provide quality time with his children. I makes me think of the sweet comments from Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice about their "Grannie's Playhouse". So many amazing things, from high art and Prince Albert's modern advances, to Queen Victoria's watercolors and children's toys. The Dunbar Wing is unbelievable! I always appreciate the time you spend editing and narrating these terrific tours. 🙂 P.S. I did get a laugh out of the grand painting of Neptune and the strategic placement of limbs, where fig leaves were not going to work.

  22. Visited over 10 years ago and really enjoyed it. Walking around the grounds I can imagine the joy the children would have had playing around the Swiss Cottage and also down on the beach. No wonder Victoria and Albert loved it.

  23. Wow, what a beautiful place! I can't believe her children did not share her passion for the place. I sure do.

  24. This was a very interesting tour of Osborne House as A child I was born on the island but left when age 8. Now have been in Australia since 1957. Maybe I will go back and visit the island and also Osborne House. Thank you .

  25. So tough to be a Royal. All those hectic parties, getting dressed and undressed by maids and butlers. The there’s that tedious reading of laws to approve that usually benefit the filthy rich. Oh so tough.
