  1. Great prize. I’ve been thinking of investing in these. I may have to r3visit them on Amazon again. 🙂 Congrats to the winner!🎉

  2. Congratulations to the winner!
Do you make your own seed starting mix? Prices are getting high and I was wondering if there's a way to make it cheaper.

  3. Congratulations winner!
I have two tips to share:
    1) Use a grease pen instead of permanent marker. They are generally food safe. Last year I used a Sharpie to mark my plants but the ink faded or washed off, but the labels I made with grease pen many years ago are still hanging in there.
    2) Dollar Tree has seeds for cheap. Not a huge selection, but non-GMO packets 4/$1 is hard to beat. I've had success with them. Sometimes cost makes people apprehensive about gardening and I feel it's a good option 😃

  4. Congrats winner! I think i have all my supplies and setting up my space this weekend, then just waiting……

  5. Congratulations to the winner! Those little setups are weirdly cute.

Thank you for the checklist! I can't seem to get the link to work, but that may be because I'm on my phone. I have two things that I personally use for seed starting, with a third used less often. First, instead of using my ham fingers to make the holes, I took a popsicle stick, cut one end into a point, then put measurement marks on it for seed depth. It helps the seeds be at the right depth instead of however far I pushed them down by mistake. I also have a misting bottle to spritz the dirt, mist the plants, and because if they aren't exposed to wind or rain, those little baby plants can get pretty darn dusty.

That third thing I use is some sort of shaker bottle for disbursing tinier seeds. Mine had sesame seeds in it, and I use it for sprinkling out instead of planting each individual seed.

  6. I don’t enjoy starting my plants indoors. I don’t like the hassle of hardening them off. But I think I’m going to start my tomatoes and peppers at least. Last year I didn’t get peppers until very late in the season. It seemed like my plants took forever to grow.

  7. Congratulations to the winner!

Such an exciting time of year! I've already got my peppers popping in my seed starting trays on heat mats.

  8. Started really planning my new garden in my new house inspired by this video! I'm feeling very intimidated about making cost efficient choices.

  9. I stocked up two years ago and I still got all of my seat starting needs congratulations to the winner btw

  10. I am already seeing my crocuses, daffodils, onions, and garlic popping up through the ground. I know we’re still technically two months away From spring in our area but I can’t wait

  11. The digital timers that look like the OG pin timers are such a PITA to manage between grows needing different light schedules; just purchase the pin-style timers because they are easy-peasy to change.
Wash your hands versus using old gloves if contamination is a concern; moreover, why believe contamination is a problem… think about it, please. Unless planning to produce agar trays for mushrooms, the cleanliness aspect becomes basically mute. Wash your hands and your tools!!! and don't put your fingers up your nose, in your mouth, in your eyes, or near/in the "other" areas (for those) while planting! It is really that simple.

Three-to-four dollars per seed is an extreme cost; however, cannabis seeds range up to $30/per… or higher (no pun). Moreover, do your best to pop your seeds and give them a chance. They will reward you for the effort!!!
    Thank you!
