  1. Blossom end rot happens when there is to much water at the time that the flower is just developing into the tomato, you can spray with calcium, which is blossom end rot spray.

  2. You can also take a little milk in a gal. Add full with Water and water your tomatoes at the Root when you see the 1st blossoms or you can buy Calcium in a Bag its Calcium deficiency that causes Blossom end Rot

  3. For help, check out another New Jersey Gardener, The Gardening Channel With James Prigioni. He has lots of great tips on gardening. You should do a video with him! That would be so cool! I have to grow in pine tree soil. It's very dry, shady and sandy. I've got my work cut out for me. Trying more containers this year. Thanks for the heads up on supplies!

  4. Didn't have good luck with Ferry Morse. I hope you have better luck. Maybe it was a timing thing for me

  5. I picked up 2 of the 72 cell pro hex. Growing my onions in them now and they are doing awesome!

  6. Way to much money for a grow light. Pick yourself up some shop lights with 5500k lumens

  7. I have a ton of seeds but will stock up like you said at the end of the season with MIGardener

  8. Blossom end rot solution: eggshells
I heard to grind up clean, baked eggshells (maybe it was from MI Gardener) in a coffee grinder then add a spoonful of that powder to the hole where you plant your tomato plant. I think the oven setting was under 300⁰ F for about 20 min. to kill off any pathogens.

  9. I stopped all seeds from Loews home Depot ECT . Cheaper at the feed store. Here

  10. Blossom end rot is caused by a calcium deficiency in developing fruit. Fluctuating soil moisture due to overwatering or drought, high nitrogen fertilization, and root pruning during cultivation are conducive to blossom end rot. tomatoes. strawberries, peppers, squash (for example, zucchini) are prone to getting blossom end rot.

Avoid conditions of too much or too little water. Irrigate evenly and mulch the soil to retain moisture during dry periods. Avoid cultivation near plants that would damage roots. Use nitrate (NO3-) rather than ammonium (NH4+) forms of nitrogen fertilizer. DO NOT over-fertilize. I like to use a slow release fertilizer that is good for months or a four month growing season. Have your soil tested periodically to determine if there is sufficient calcium in the soil. If not, add calcium (e.g., lime, bonemeal, eggshells). Check the soil pH on a regular basis, particularly if you use lime as a calcium source. A pH of about 6.5 is ideal for growing most vegetables. Finally, grow vegetable cultivars that are tolerant of calcium deficiencies and less likely to show blossom end rot symptoms. A lot of heirloom vegetables breed true and have been tested by gardeners for hundreds of years.

Another thing you can do to prevent blossom end rot is boil some water with eggshells in it. Let it cool to room temperature and then use that water to water your strawberries and tomatoes for a quick dose of calcium. Strawberries with adequate calcium will be red all the way through the fruit and sweeter.

  11. OMG I was so frustrated last year with the Blossom end rot. I tried everything and lost

  12. My wife and I purchased the Yardistry Greenhouse from local Costco a couple of weeks ago. Setting in the garage until spring. Came in 2 boxes each weighing 215 lbs. I'm 71 and wife is 58. Costco guys loaded it in my Ford Explorer and the wife, and I drug the boxes into the garage. With her muscle and my supervision, hope we can assemble it with little problems.

  13. Seeds of Change has been around for a long and as far as I know is still a well-respected company. I used to get their catalogs many years ago.
