  1. Silly question if you put tulle over the strawberry plants to keep critters out how do the flowers get pollinated for fruit production? My inquiring mind wants to know, because we have squirrels and chipmunks, and gophers and groundhogs and birds all attacking my strawberries . Oh and a little black speckled bug that I haven’t been able to identify yet. I’m getting 45 crowns this spring and I want to be able to enjoy some berries and make some jam. ❄️💚🙃

  2. Working on our garden expansion, have my asparagus and strawberry roots already. Supposed to get snow on Tuesday, so hopefully, next weekend, they can go into new beds. (weather permitting) We are zone 8b, wondering if it's good to put straw on the bed or is a frost cover better in the beginning? 😃🍓

  3. Thanks so much! Been holding on to my asparagus crowns for a month! Ready to go thanks again! I have strawberries from last year and they taste awful! Going to get rid of them.

  4. I tried growing strawberries and they grew well! Then I brought them inside for winter and they all died! Seems there was some type of bug or something in them but all I saw looked slightly like spider webbing. ☹️.

  5. We’re going to be planting jumbo asparagus roots do I still have to let them go two full years before we harvest. Or just do a few next year like you said. We ordered jumbo from gurneys because we’ve gotten them from them before but never the jumbo. Thanks too for any help.❤❤❤

  6. I am in zone 9b and strawberries are annuals only, I used crowns variety Chandler. Asparagus I am trying in a raised bed using a warm climate variety UC157. Mine are up now some are already pencil thick but leaving them alone. So hopefully in a couple years we will enjoy them.

  7. Can strawberries be planted in containers? I am not allowed to dig, so I do my "gardening" in buckets, and totes. Also what about hard freeze? MN gets a LITTLE cold in the winter, and my stuff freeze's solid!

  8. Thanks Brian!!! Planting asparagus this spring. ❤ My original bed lasted 25 years before it got tired. It was Mary Washington I grew from seed. I'm planning on doing one in Texas also. Good info on strawberries. I have a tough time with them.💞

  9. Strawberries, I hear what you're saying but I just cannot picture the cutting of the runners in my head. Any way you could do a tutorial showing this?

  10. Nice little Electric Slide for tamping down raised bed soil. 😆
I may have to try that with strawberries. I’ve been thinking about growing my own. Store bought is kind of bleh.

  11. The best video I've seen covering these two veggies. Again, thank you for speaking clearly, demonstrating each step, and taking the time to teach us. Your tips are always so helpful!

  12. a side view diagram showing the various layers and plants would really help those of us who are primarily visual. a phot at low angle would be as good. good info anyway without them, just easy to get confused.
    thanx as always.

  13. I laughed when I watched you shuffle around on the soil to tamp it down, as we added several more raised beds this past fall, and I'm always on shuffle-duty! You simplified asparagus for me, so maybe I'll have to add it to our garden area. It's always felt intimidating. Thank you for making it easy and showing all the steps!!!
