Sophisticated Cottage Style Inside and Out

At first, I thought living in a cottage would be too ‘cutesy’ for my taste, until I could develop my own sophisticated version of cottage style. Both inside and out. I’ll be talking more about this in videos to come, but here’s a start…enjoy! #cottagestyle #cottagedecor #cottagegarden

  1. I hit the like button but wish there was a "heart/love" button because I really love this video of your sharing the plans for upgrading your landscape. It inspires me to do some upgrades in my yard this spring, unfortunately our spring here in Chicago area doesn't start until May but I guess it gives me time to save and finalize my plans. Looking forward to seeing the completion of your patio and planting of trees!

  2. Linda, you are the reason I bought 2 Chinese Viburnums and also had my mom buy 2 to plant at her place.

  3. I like the talk back and forth with Stewart! He has
such a pleasant voice and laugh. Also, I appreciate his artistic viewpoint.

  4. I love the lights, they look like they belong there and removing the shutters would look great too.

  5. Be forewarned that nearly everywhere you make a cut on a Yaupon Holly it will send out new shoots, and become deformed looking. I learned that years ago, when I was just learning about pruning shrubs. I had two which were long established, and had grown over the sidewalk near our pool, and they interfered with the passageway. So I pruned out some branches, and at every cut the trees sent out clusters of new growth. In my attempts to clear the sidewalk, I seriously believe, I ruined those trees by trying to skirt them up. I know I ruined the natural aesthetic of them. Live and learn. …Thank you for all you share with us. It's so exciting getting to view all the changes you're making. Thank you!

  6. Great show! I’m loving all the developments in and around the cottage. The plum colors of the lilies are so rich and rather regal. Also I’m loving the Billy shelving units and your eye for decor is impeccable. I wish you such joy in your new home.🥰

  7. you might want to fill the flower vases full of as much water as possible. The stems have the ability to absorb water along their full length and will help the flowers stay hydrated longer. I love your videos and have learned a lot from you. Thanks so much!

  8. The carriage lights look 100% better. Don't do brass rubbing on them. There's no need for that.

  9. Taking shutters down is a good idea. Way too close to light fixture. The larger, darker fixture plus the plaque you mentioned will add weight to that side. Will balance with mailbox.

  10. Love the new lights so much!!! I think you can have Sophisticated and Classic and still have some Cutesy and whimsey at the sametime. I love a combination of many things to make it look homey as well.
