Pruning Viburnums & Spring Bulb Tour | Gardening with Creekside

Properly pruning shrubs can be a daunting task, so today I am showing you how easy it is and why sometimes you have to break a rule or two in gardening. Once our work is done, we are going to go on a garden tour of the spring flowering bulbs.

  1. love everything about your gardens, you keep it real and all the imperfections, to me that's real gardening, not like some of those other channels where everything has to be perfect. going to look back at your nursery videos and dream shop lol.

  2. You influenced me to order color blends hyacinths and double daffodils last Fall. Was cursing during the cold, wet planting, but now I’m waiting for a show:) Btw, your patio area sure is pretty.

  3. Love your beds! iam trying to do what you did with the daffodils but at a smaller scale. A garden is not made in a day!

  4. I didn’t add daffodils this year but I put colorblends tulips in my containers at the entryway. I have one that has 10 (of 20) emerging and the other one has NONE! They are maybe 6-7ft apart. SW facing home. Any tips?

Edit to add: I’m zone 6a

  5. My jonquils are already blooming and will likely get nipped in the bud for sure. Way too early and we are suppose to have several nights in the 20’s….don’t these plants ever figure out it’s too soon to show their buds? We can rarely enjoy them for long because it happens every year. I’m in zone 6. It’s depressing to see them come up only to watch them droop from the cold…ugh

  6. Please share how to properly cut grass. I also love beautifully mowed grass and daffodils!

  7. I needed to hear that! Sometimes I get caught up on what I want to fix and get done in my garden you forget to enjoy the moment!

  8. The grass is enviable, and all the bulbs are beautiful, and the violas I have to try them instead of pansies. I'm only about 5 degrees colder than where you are, but it doesn't look like spring yet here.

  9. Not a tulip fan, but your apricot tulips are beautiful. Love the daffodils…also, love Jenny on a soapbox!

  10. That bed of gigantic star daffodils took my breath away. Love it! I hope my garden will look like that someday. I've been getting a lot of foliage only on some daffs that have been in the ground for a few years–wonder if I didn't get the best varieties for my zone.

  11. Your garden is looking great! I was outside today enjoying the daffodils and doing gardening chores. It was such a gorgeous day. I am so glad I invested that time and energy in planting them, I'll I can do is smile when I see them. 😊

  12. We stopped by on Wednesday on our drive from Wilmington back to Tn. Everything was beautiful and very tidy. The folks working that day were so sweet and helpful even though it was a little busy. There were A lot of perennials that I can’t find here. It was def worth the stop and the shade area in the pines was perfection. ❤

  13. Zone 6. I love my daffodils. No idea what kind….they were here when I moved into my home. They are yellow and small-ish in size. I think they are daffodil perfection. I have dug, divided, moved, and corralled them into 7 different areas around my house (foundation beds) and I just love how reliably they show up every spring, put on the best show, and the deer don't touch them. Loved seeing all your variety!

  14. I bought a small pot of mini daffodils last spring and had them in an arrangement in a larger pot by the entrance. I put them in ground after the had done their thing, just to let them grow last summer. This fall I had to move them to the place where I wanted them in a new flower bed and there were 46(!!) bulbs! So 10 got to 46 over the growing season!

  15. Beautiful!! Don’t you just love spring & all the new growth, it’s so cheerful & happy to look at 🌸

  16. After seeing your latest garden tour, I realized you are my long lost Southern gardening sister LOL!!!! Ive lived in northern VA for the last 20 yrs & now that I'm retired, I'm even more obsessed with gardening ! I do landscape design for friends & family & its not a job!!!! You are living my dream life in the nursery business!!
I love your honesty & small honest imperfections, but that's gardening !!! So happy that you & Jerry are together inthis, I only get my husband to mow the lawns on our 13 acres….. Some of which we hay!!! But I love watching you & learning about the behind the scenes, soooo interesting!!!! Keep up the great work, wish you were closer, I would be your best customer!!!!! If you ever need a real private client to showcase Proven Winners on my almost 4 acres of gardens, pick me!!! Lol

  17. Jenny – have you ever read Spencer Quinn's s Chet and Bernie series? Your dog reminds me of Chet – except Chet has one dark and one white ear. The books are fun because Chet the dog is the narrator of the story. I love those daffodils (jonquils) – sure wish I could smell those Gigantic Stars.

  18. Hey Jenny. I love your spring flowers. I have never tried planting bulbs, but I may give it a try. I'm glad you mentioned Hostas because I'm going to divide some and place them in full sun here in zone 6. If it doesn't work out, I'll move them, but as of now, I'm excited to try something different.

  19. I loved seeing all these blooms we have some trees and yellow bells blooming and a few daffodils. Thank you for sharing all the types of bulbs and the tulips oh my❤ the snowdrops I love. When you said focus on the positive and negative things helped me. I was raised taught everything has to be perfect inside and out and it’s made life stressful. So now I am taking your advice to change my mindset. Blessings

  20. When they naturalise Jenny they’re going to be spectacular 💋❣️
Looking beautiful girl, real beautiful, well done💋❣️😉
Not fair, I’ve major bulb envy💋😉❣️

  21. I love your perfect moments & as gardeners we see all the things that need to be done while we sure don’t want to miss the glory! thank you for reminding me! As a Grandma I now take time to sit & enjoy the beauty & share the outdoor beauty with my Grandchildren. I’ve added more & more bench’s!
