  1. I can't wait to see this garden grow!! It's going to be so sweet!
I also love watching Brenna on high alert. You can tell she's on the lookout. Sweet girl!

  2. Your Elderberry will be fine Jenny. I am in SoCal zone 10B, purchased a Black Lace from our local nursery (shocked when I saw it!) and placed it in the same conditions as you – part sun, under a mature tree. This is it's third year coming back for me and it's full of leaf buds. I've yet to see it flower because I cut it down almost to the ground every year as it is an aggressive grower. Enjoy!!

  3. Such an important message about respecting the boundaries of pets. I found it to be a real issue, especially when parents allow their children to approach dogs. Parents need to teach kids to ask first. And if the owner says no, don’t take it personally. The dog may not be having a great day and doesn’t want to be touched. I’ve seen people get upset with owners about it!

  4. Ginny, the hostas are beautiful. You mentioned that they came in 1 gallon pots, and your mother replanted into 3 gallon containers. How long were they in the bigger pot, and is that better than putting them in the soil as the 1 gallon size?

  5. I have a dear friend that lives about 20 minutes from the nursery and I was able to get out there last fall. The hardy geranium I bought from y’all has put on new growth here in Carteret county! I’m hoping to get back out there sometime before the heat really sets in. It was so cool to meet you and jerry while we were there!! Have a great weekend!!

  6. Love your new garden in the trees. I think a nice walkway so you can just meander through and enjoy the beauty would be nice especially as the plants mature.

  7. Brenna is precious. She’s lucky to have you for a mom, and you are blessed to have her as your loyal companion and protector. We recently lost our precious dog of 14 years, and it does my heart good to see Miss B run around. ♥️ Looking forward to visiting your beautiful nursery and hopefully meeting you someday.

  8. Love your woodland garden. I planted an elderberry many years ago and loved it! Unfortunately, it died. I live in zone 7b Knoxville, TN. Hope you have better luck. 🍀

  9. Love to see your doggie with you every step. You are definitely her human. Life is good when you can enjoy your gardens and doggie at the same time.

  10. I am surprised that the Black Lace Elderberry needs shade in your zone because in Laura's garden they get full blazing hot sun in the summer. Is it because of your warm and humid nights or is it not the required chill time? I'm curious, LOL!

  11. Jenny, have you ever considered a stepping stone path through your woodland garden? Also, boulders would be a nice touch as well.
