BEGINNERS GUIDE TO EDIBLE WEEDS IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD. LAMBS QUARTERS | Gardening in Canada π©βπ¬
Here is an awesome video on edible weeds you can find in your own backyard in Canada and the Northern United States. In this video we look at lambs quarters and how itβs essentially the spinach of the garden. I also include some great resources for Canadian gardeners. Edible herbs and weeds is a thing on the rise so I thought doing a video on how to ID these weeds and which weeds can be eaten would be fun! #GardeningInCanada #CanadianGardener #ScienceBasedGardening

Hey! Thanks for watching what have you guys eaten in the garden thatβs not a regular plant? Have you heard of this book before?! Itβs so amazing and Iβve had it for years. Be sure to check on the amazon link to grab this beast of a book. https://geni.us/nAGbB
Does this make the egg shell calcium available by doing this? ( see link ) Or does it still have to have to go though the microbes ( bacteria, fungi) then eaten by Protozoa and nematodes ? https://www.google.com/search?hl=&site=&q=calcium+carbonate+to+calcium+acetate+with+vinegar
Iβm a big fan of purslane and we had some in our garden salad this evening. Itβs finally getting mature enough to create some good texture. I let it self weed underneath my tomatoes and peppers. Come back reliably every year.
I'm a crappy gardener but eating "weeds" and foraging is up my alley. I would love more content like this βΊοΈ
There is a chart on which foods contain large amounts of oxalic acid on the wiki (causes kidney stones), and I was surprised to see a lot of the most commonly eaten foods on the list in high concentrations, along with all species of amaranth (lambsquarters, spinach, beets, chard).
I would definitely love to see more videos on this subject! I'd love to know more about sorrel, purslane, and plantain. Thank you for sharing your education!
I just bought some lamb quarter seeds from strickly medicinal seeds
I like to eat mallow weed
Take everything i say with a grain of salt and due your research. If you are not sure if the plant is edible buy your seeds from a reputable online company like strictly medicinal seeds. Please do your own research because eat wild plants can cause death. Make sure to consult a very very knowledgeable botanist or your doctor before consuming anything that you are not 100 percent or 10000 percent.BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU INGEST BRCAUSE YOU COULD DIE A HORRIBLE SLOW DEATH.
