Vegetable Gardening

Chinese Vegetable Gardens in Rural Village | Growing Vegetables in China | Guangxi Province | 中国菜园

This video shows Chinese vegetable gardens in rural village of Southern China, and how local farmers are growing vegetables in China.

We grow plenty of vegetables in our garden, such as Choy Sum, Chinese cabbage(Bok Choy), flowering cabbage, Chinese chive/leek, lettuce, carrot, turnip, celery, tomato, pea, garlic stem and so on.

Everyone knows vegetables need water to grow, so we try to grow vegetables as close to the river as possible. And we keep watering freshly planted vegetables in the afternoon every day if it hasn’t rained for a long time. Some people may apply water two to three times a week and water deeply each time as opposed to a brief, shallow watering every day.

Although we are not growing on a large scale like the commercial farms, but some of the villagers have been growing vegetables for decades and have rich experience. In addition, the old Ma’am in my video just grows vegetables full-time, and then sells vegetables in the market or wholesales vegetables to other vendors.

  3. Do you have gophers there? If so how do you rid your garden of them or other rodent type pests that eat roots and sprouts? Thanks for the video. Ma'am should really get you a pump or at least a manual siphon you could do with a garden hose and put it to the top of a tree and suck the water to the highest point with a bicycle pump or something, put a type of cage or filter on the end of the hose gathering the water or have someone to hold it and make sure it's flowing.
