Couple sells EVERYTHING to start a THRIVING market garden in NC

Discover the hard work, dedication, and passion that goes into cultivating fresh, locally grown produce at Honey Tree Farm. Located in NC, this one and a half acre market garden supplies 40 plus varieties of vegetables to local markets, restaurants and through direct farm sales. With a commitment to small, sustainable, and organic farming practices, Tori and Casey take great pride in providing the community with nutritious and delicious produce. Using caterpillar tunnels they are able to control what they grow so they can grow year round despite the varied climate of North Carolina. 8. Ask for help? I about fell out of my seat laughing. Then I thought about crying. We have reached out to nearly 50 farms. All over the U.S., and yes including the ones within a short drive from us. People that claim to be homesteaders, farmers, farmsteads, market gardeners, milk farms, meat farms, you name, we have asked. We have offered tons of free labor, to include paying all these people a generous sum of money. Then to top it off I personally have offered my skills as a carpenter for in and up to two weeks, for free at no additional cost to them. If they would simply let us come and meet them, talk to them, ask questions and all the above aforementioned package deal. We have asked YouTubers and the like. Only to be met with silence. So NO, asking for help is kind of a joke. And all we have ever asked is to show us something, anything. Trim a tomato plant, clip chicken wings, what they companion plant. It goes as far as just wanting to meet people. In our local and not so local community. We have only been met with silence. Or they point in two different directions except for themselves. Attempting to offer help. Angry? NOPE. Mad? NOPE. Frustrated? YEP. Discouraged? YEP. Disappointed? ABSOLUTELY! We have been to 2 homesteaders festivals. One at Rory Feeks and the other one in Virginia. We will never waste our money or time again at those places. Those people were nothing more than an overpaid, glorified cheerleader.. But the second you ask to come see them, to talk, to learn something, anything. They were like cockroaches when the lights came on. Have you read this book, or that book. Or have you watched this video? Yes, to all. That is why I am standing in front of you, and you and you asking for help. Not everyone learns from books or videos. Remember that. There are such things called learning disabilities. One of which I have, that plays an instrumental part of how I learn. Remember that the next time someone comes and asks you personally for help. Consider why they are asking. The answer is not always that simple

  9. Wow…we have such a similar story. We bought a camper…moved out to a working market garden farm…decided to do it ourselves…sold our house…leased 3.5 acres…we will go to our first farmers market in a month or so. Rock on!
