I remember when you got this Jerome. I got a similar koto hime.same time from my local nursery. Stil snow on the ground here. But looking forward to get all that clay off.
Those two roots that are on the side opposite that large root (@7:11 in the video you can see them clearly), is there a reason why you didn't try to get them to flare away from each other more dramatically? The one on the right of the screen, closer to the large root, might have looked better pushed farther away from that other root in terms of later presentation.

So if night temps are just lower than 40 and my tree is in an unheated garage would you do the bonsai shuffle if you wanted to? Or not worth it!

Hi Jerome, I’m live outside Toronto so is it a good time to repot and use your bonsai soil and should I leave them in my garage to protect them after the repotting. It still gets under 0 Celsius at night!

Beautiful tree! Can’t wait to see it leafed out. Could you attach the guy wires to the wires holding the tree in the pot? If so it would eliminate the wire on the exterior of the pot.

What a find!! It looks as if it were grafted but you can barely tell unless you know what you're looking at. It definitely is an "instant" bonsai. The only thing is… the nebari. Idk if you should air layer the bottom or root graft it but I'm glad you have the nebari in mind. If this tree ends up with a great root spread, it will be an excellent bonsai. Good work Jerome.
