  1. Thank you Jenny. I grew mine from seed last year and they were huge. Just left them in the ground during winter so fingers crossed they will be OK. Thank you for brightening up my day. xx

  2. Going to try dalias because of your videos. I bought a package of 2 tubers on sale. One bagged tuber already has a 4' weak, green sprout. What's best 1) plant them indoors in a container with sprout and later transplant them outside (late April), or 2) remove the sprout now and keep the tubers in the bag 'till April?

  3. Dahlias are fun going on my 4th yr growing in a row, a garden and planters on my patio. I use t-post and twine to stake up I have also done the Florida weave. The twine disappears into the foliage and strong enough to hold up plant weight. Enjoy your beautiful weather.

  4. I went for it and dug up and divided my tubers the other day. Holy moly, some were just huge! I may have to find home for some extras as I don’t know where to put them all, lol! I wish I had all of your open space!

  5. Question: do dahlias come back year after year? Is planting tubers akin to planting seed for other types of plants? I mean what are the pros and cons to planting tubers versus established plants from the nursery? Does it matter or is it just a preference?
I love dahlias and love to photograph them but I am truly ignorant about how to grow and care for them.
    I need a dahlias 101 course 😂

  6. Good job with "Dahlia Fever" ! Was great to hear you giving a shut out to Garden Answer's Laura, who is also a daily favorite of mine :). Have a Great Day !!

  7. I've always wanted to grow dahlias, the maintenance in the fall is what keeps me from trying.

  8. Hi Jenny 🌺 well done . I can't wait to see the beautiful dahlias bloom they will be amazing . Have anice day .🌺🌻🌺

  9. Label the names next to the tubers! You’ll regret it and it’s going to be a pain to dig through papers and spreadsheets for reference. Just think how much easier it’ll be with a nametag next to them when you share the blooms with us at this summer on video 😊

  10. Hello, Jenny 👋 I’m sure those Dahlia’s are going to look amazing! They’re addicting 😂

  11. Jenny, this does not have anything to do with this video but I haven’t been well for two years since my Mama has dementia. She used to come and we worked in my yard and gardens all the time. This year for the first time in two years I trimmed all my hydrangeas and perennials plus I got the fertilizer down and did as you said.
Thank you so much for teaching me I had forgotten somewhat. You are inspiring me to do more. Words can’t express how thankful I am for all I have learned. Plus you said “just get outside and do something and get some sun.”

  12. My lil yard is the nook you’re looking for 😂 I can’t wait for my delivery from Springhill & American Meadows 1st time for me planting dahlias 🎉

  13. I can't, at this time, find Biotone Starting Fertilizer. Can I use Plant-tone in its place? I will keep checking back at the stores. I live in a small town.

  14. I have noticed a huge increase in clover in my flower beds. Do you have a video on how to manage this weed?

  15. You are going to have a beautiful dahlia show of flowers once they all start blooming. Looking forward to see all the gorgeous varieties 🌺🌸😊

  16. Your excitement for dahlias has got me thinking of giving them a try! I don't have garden room I'm willing to sacrifice for tall ones that need staking ( I love my mammoth sunflowers too much), so I'm looking forward to seeing how your small ones in other flower beds do. Thanks for showing us new things! ❤

  17. She is such a good guard dog! Lol I've got this, just let me charge that FedX man and let him know I mean business. 😂

  18. Had a dahlia tuber given to me three years ago which became the most commented on flower in my garden. Called Explosion, it was just that. Stunning five foot tall yellow and orange beauty, to which I did absolutely nothing. I can overwinter them in the ground in my zone. Bought three more last year and they came up beautifully too. Didn’t add much to the soil and they only get sporadic water, but lots of sun. Dug out an area in one bed just for dahlias. Moved the three yellow ones there and bought a few more. Added a post on either end, and will string some supports from one to the other when they start to appear. Added three new varieties, shorter, a few weeks ago and will plant them this week. I have found dahlias to be a huge bang for the buck. Glorious flowers, easy to plant, and reliable. So much color, variety and reliability. Feel the same way about anticipating seeing them appear.

  19. So jealous of you zone 7 gardeners that are already planting and can leave your Dahlia tubers in the ground. Still cold here and deliveries about 4 weeks away 😞

  20. I also do the staking method. I corral them in about 12 inches up then as they grow to that point add another twine about 12 inches up and another if needed. Some of them grow so tall and tend to flop over. I add a stake just for those who flop and tie them to the stake. I'm thinking that you'll notice if you never dig them to divide the tubers they will be huge plants and will get harder to stake. They will be lovely! I'm so glad you did this video. Keep us in the loop of their growth throughout the summer.

  21. What type of Dewalt drill did you use? I know Laura switched to Dewalt cement mixer 60v. My 20v drill just doesn’t seem to cut it

  22. It would have helped to put pictures up on the screen so we know what it is
