We started a SMALL balcony vegetable garden (3 square meters) on our rental apartment last spring. As a trained landscape designer in California, I would like to share 4 steps and some tips on how to set up an edible balcony garden at home, especially on how to maximize the space of a small space while meeting different functions requirements – grow, work, store, and relax. There are also some useful plant lists for beginners to get started. Hope this will inspire you to start in this early spring! 😊

Beautiful video. I’m trying to find someone who’s managed it with a tiny Juliet balcony. I have a depth of 15cm to work with 🤣 I have just enough room to fit a slim 4 tier shelving unit for herbs and flowers and a narrow planter with peas that can climb up the balcony bars.

woah, now this is a lovely balcony garden! Great video too! I have a slightly larger balcony, but barely any sunlight 🙁 still, your video inspired me to plan something for growing plants in the balcony
