yesterday I used this deck get trophy!!!
Oh, I see a man of great taste here
Mengu could probably have a winning record using a Standard deck in Modern
Loving the Mengu Mill
FWIW, while I agree strongly with you about cards like Stone Brain, Necromentia, etc (and always cackle with glee when my opponent casts one, like I can't win if you take one card out of deck lol)… I think Surgical in mill is the one place where it's maybe not totally crazy.
I agree about Soul-Guide Lantern. I wonder whether it would be better to run three of them main instead of the Surgical Extractions. Lantern is not just better against Emrakul; it's also better against Endurance, Underworld Breach, etc.
I always loved the idea of mill as a wincon, but this deck looks so boring to play.
no modern player here please correct me
i love your thumbnails. have you by any chance started doing them for CFB as well? 😉
Vs creativity, let transmongify resolve then bounce emrakul with otawara and that way you dont need to deal with it in the library
Ah yes, the classic trend of Japanese players registering the weirdest decklists and then doing extremely well with them
I love dropping Endurance and my opponent just scoops when I play against this deck.
Can you try Lantern Control this day and age? With Scheming Symmetry in the deck. Salute
Good content as always. Just a pointer for the mill vs matchups with multiple copies of Endurance – the 3rd copy of extirpate is better than the first of surgical. They typically don't race you fast enough so the tempo advantage of surgical is negligible while the split second gives you a proactive line if you mill a copy of endurance. Not relevant here, but worth noting.
Otherwise, completely agree soul guide lantern is going to be better.
This is the first ever Youtube thumbnail ever that has made me laugh
Great Veedeo as always! One thing you could do is add the Twitch chat to the video here on YouTube. You'd have to set it up with your streaming program I'd imagine, but it would make the viewing experience even better!
This may be a very stupid question but couldn’t your opponent recognize your user name and then watch your stream and know your hand and strategy
Unexpected quote:
"Surgical… …excellent card. Thank you surgical"
-Mengu, 2023
Now you have to come to brazil
Mengu- you need Mikokoro because you can kill emrakul and endurance decks with the trigger on the stack.
Edit: I also wanted to mention surgical is md because when mill switched to reactive disruption we needed a proactive option to cut lines. Very glad you saw the potential m1.
19:23 stone brains over ego because your op is incentivized to bring in conditional counters that hit instants and sorceries where that stone brain jukes. You also get to sneak it into play before some interaction is available from op. You are a 22 land deck typically so you don’t ALWAYS hit 3 on t3.
