Front Yard Garden

How To Lay A Brick Border and Flagstone Path

Here’s how we lay our brick border along the front walk and bordering the garden in the front yard. Stepping stones too. It is all ‘soft set’ so no concrete is required. I love the way it looks! #frontyard #landscaping #brick #steppingstones #cottagestyle #gardendesign #patio #frontyard #landscaping #cottagestyle

  1. Linda, my suggestion for the east / west focal and pardon me if they have already been suggested, I don’t read all the comments all the time, would be concrete spears. I believe they are a little less expected and would echo the forms of many of your round boxwoods. ❤

  2. Linda you are so lucky that you have such wonderful people working for you! They are so hard to find these days!!! Your Front yard is coming along so nicely!!!! What a joy!!!!

  3. Such artisans working in your yard! I really enjoy seeing your plans come alive and all of the thought processes involved. I wish I could send you a picture of my backyard and you could draw up plans!😀 You would be a great consultant!

  4. I can see the vision, Linda. I'm so excited for you 🎉❤

    I can't get enough 😩 I want to see more!!!!❤

  5. You definitely don't have to explain to me why you're utilizing young, strong backs to plant those shrubs 😂 I definitely vote for grouping the boxwood nearer the street, but I never like a straight line of anything (unless it's crops) 💚

  6. I am so enjoying these progress report videos. You are so lucky to have such amazing partners on this project. Everything is being done right the first time. I can’t wait to see the window box in place.
Are you going to be able to have your hose reels on both sides of the front garden?

  7. They are doing an amazing job but your design is spectacular! Can’t wait to see it finished 😍🥰

  8. Oh my goodness, Linda, the brick border is BEAUTIFUL! It really compliments the walk. I LOVE the way this is all coming together! It is absolutely GORGEOUS!! The Red Buds add such a lovely soft and airy bit of color. What skill these men, that are putting your brick border and stepping stones in, have! I am just amazed at how much you have gotten done and how STUNNING it all looks! Have a lovely Easter, dear friend! Sending much love and blessings.

  9. Linda, every video shows us your attention to detail and how important planning is. P.S. I loved the arrival of the semi with your plants! I’m from Alabama, too!🌿

  10. Wow! It is very exciting to watch this new garden evolve so quickly ❤
Also encouraging as I soon will be leaving my garden of 28 years and find it a challenge to not secumb to despair😢 Kudos to you Linda for showing us how to depart our homes and gardens with grace, wisdom and fortitude 🙃

  11. Hi Linda I’m glad you aren’t doing all the heavy lifting it’s really coming together and the walkway color is beautiful

  12. Looking lovely linda is really coming together you must be so excited and cant wait till its all done and you can sit down with a cuppa and enjoy the garden if your like me you will sit and see something else that needs to move or be done 😂 x

  13. Oh my goodness, everything looks so beautiful. I’m so happy for you. I truly hope it will be your dream cottage ~ Janet 😘

  14. Wow, it is really coming together! You have a great eye for landscape design. I love the way you decorated the front porch and the brick edging is so beautiful!

  15. loved this video and the detail you showed on how to do it. Many thanks for sharing. Looking good and fun to see it coming together.

  16. Oh, the brick lined walkway and porch are looking fabulous. NO MORE CRACKS OR RED! Love your porch setting so far with small bench and planters. Already makes the area look so homey and classy…the Linda trademarks.

  17. Sorry, but this front yard is ridiculously overdone. No other home in this neighborhood has a front yard with this much stuff crammed into it. Am I wrong, or are there a total of three seating arrangements in this front yard? I would be beyond upset if I lived next door, or even on the same block. No understated elegance in this landscape design. This is an addiction at this point.

  18. I for one am glad you’re getting help from these guys planting your plants. I am freshly 40 and I am exhausted when planting, and though I don’t doubt you are fit and healthy, I can imagine how exhausting it would be for you if you didn’t have help.

  19. Your porch and walk look so nice, love the brick edging. I have (29) boxwood in my small front yard, mostly green velvet and green mountain. Some line my front walk and the others enclose my yard. I had planned on putting in english ivy in center, took out the grass. But now am having second thoughts on the ivy. So I am eager to see your end results, maybe will get some ideas from your plan. I love the look of your beautiful cottage on the hill.

  20. I could have watched an hour of this. Was disappointed that it was over. It is lovely how it is coming together. Those gentlemen are so meticulous in the job they r doing. You are so lucky to have that great team!

  21. Why would someone "shame" you for not doing the planting yourself?? I'm around your age and definitely need help with the larger specimens. Everything looks great so far, can't wait to see the window box planted up!!

  22. These guys are definitely pros. Brick laying is an art and talent and is almost extinct. Everything is really coming together beautifully!

  23. I’d give my right arm to have my neighbors’ yards look like this. I have a feeling this will be contagious throughout your neighborhood! ❤️❤️❤️

  24. For heaven’s sake you deserve to have some strong healthy men/women assist with installing your landscape. Your age (no offense…I’m older) recent surgery, minor back issues off and on…..please folks let’s applaud Linda for her decades of frugal beautiful garden designs and creations. Linda, thank you for employing competent hard working folks and enjoy a bit of ease in getting this massive undertaking completed.
    Love you garden aesthetics! ❤

  25. Brick throw rugs is the best explanation I've ever heard 😂 I have brick, stone and wood throw rugs 😁❤️ Love the flowerbox colour will be a lovely focus

  26. Happy Belated Birthday Stewart !
    Garden spaces will be divine.
Putting in everything at once, WOW. Can't wait for a big reveal tour.
    ❤❤❤from Michigan
