8 min in Japanese gardens of Kyoto.

Traditional gardens create miniature idealized landscapes, often in a highly abstract and stylized way.

-Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺) the “Temple of the Silver Pavilion”, is a Zen temple in the Sakyo ward of Kyoto. The property features wooded grounds covered with a variety of mosses. The Japanese garden, supposedly designed by the great landscape artist Sōami. The sand garden of Ginkaku-ji has become particularly well known.

-Ryōan-ji (竜安寺) the “Temple of the Dragon at Peace”, is a Zen temple located in northwest Kyoto. The temple garden is considered to be one of the finest examples of a kare-sansui, a Japanese rock garden, or zen garden, in Japan.

-Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺) the “Temple of the Golden Pavilion”, is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. The garden complex is an excellent example of Muromachi period. It is considered to be a classical age of Japanese garden design.

-Tenryū-ji (天龍寺) is the head temple of the Tenryū branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, located in Susukinobaba-chō, Kyoto. The garden, created by Musō Soseki, features a circular promenade around Sōgen Pond (曹源池), and is registered as both a special place of scenic beauty and a historical landmark.

  1. 3:07…..I have a (Celtic) mentality. This garden need's a few more big rock's, maybe 3 small tree's, and some flower's scattered here and there. And a Buddha in a discreet corner. And bird bath to attract bird's! A garden need's bird's!

  2. This is awesome! The moss in place of grass is like a beautiful natural green carpet, moss only grows around water where I live, so to see it in such abundance is just amazing. I Love all types of Asian gardens, I'm trying to make my own kind of garden scenery on the side of a mountain, it'll be my own style for the most part but I'll probably incorporate lots of aspects that Asian gardens tend to have, it'll be quite awhile til I finish though.
