Beginner Gardening – Vegetable Gardening with my Daughter Part 1: Starting Indoors

I started my first garden in our backyard 3 years ago and instantly became hooked. Year 1 I felt like a pro – everything I planted seemed to grow so easily. It went so well I even bought us a second raised garden bed for the following year. Then came year 2 – I could blame it on lack of time after the birth of my daughter that spring, or I could blame the drought we had in Massachusetts, or I could even blame the infestation of cabbage moths…but whatever the reasons, year 2 didn’t go well. Despite the ups and downs, I am back for year 3 and am excited to be able to share it with my daughter who will turn 1 right around the time I start planting outdoors. On part 1, I set up my indoor area for seedlings and start the ones that need a longer growing season. Most of my garden I will start outside after the last frost (hopefully late April/early May here in northern MA), but a few plants like peppers I am going to start indoors and transplant in early summer. Luckily I have a large window in the living room that gets a lot of sunlight during the day, so this is where the journey begins.
