Growing Blueberries In Containers

If you’re blueberry plants are dying it might be because you don’t have acidic soil. If you don’t have acidic soil, you need to grow blueberry plants in containers. The best blueberry mix is 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 pine bark. This blueberry soil mix was recommended by Texas A&M University.

Blueberry plants need a soil PH of 4.5 to 5.5, so for many people growing blueberries in containers is their only option. I can’t grow blueberries in the ground because my soil is not acidic enough. I have tried in my early years of gardening, but I learned over trial and error that they just don’t make it.

It’s also important to buy your blueberry plants and other plants from local nurseries. Local Nurseries are more likely to carry varieties more suited to your region.
