Planting Up My Front Annual Swoop Garden Bed with Proven Winners Annuals! ๐ŸŒธ Zone 9b Garden

Welcome gardeners! Today I am planting up my FAVORITE garden bed, the Front Annual Swoop! This is a garden bed that I reserve specifically for annuals that I can feel free to change out every year. It keeps me from getting bored and brings an excitement to each year while I think about what color scheme I will be trying out! I highly recommended dedicating a garden bed just to annuals in your own garden! ๐ŸŒธ Enjoy!

  1. I wonder if the recycle center for the yard waste will realize those cans are compostable or it they will pull them out thinking they're in the wrong can? Do they feel like plastic? Just curious. The swoop is going to be so cheery.

  2. Creekside today told the name of that new yellow one๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜‰. Swoop is going to be gorgeous!

  3. Yay! I'm so excited to see how this turns out. You gave me the inspiration to plant up my little "swoop" in my front garden bed. I did a mix of bright pink and white flowers with lemon coral sedum (bright green) around it.

  4. Oh, and what a genius idea with the umbrella!! That's great for sun protection. Where did you get it?

  5. Just wanted to add I live in zone 8b in the south and lantana is not hardy here. The only one that is, is Miss Huff. You might be referring to some older varieties Iโ€™m not too experienced with those. But the new cultivars are mostly sterile they donโ€™t set seed.

  6. Janey did you run across anything in your master gardener class regarding systemic treatments. Iโ€™m struggling with my roses and have been told to use Bayer 3-1 but Iโ€™m worried itโ€™ll harm beneficials. Iโ€™ve read both yes and no. Bayer says no, organic peeps say yes. Have you heard anything. My roses struggle even with organic treatments

  7. Iโ€™m in CA as well and it def gets colder in the South than here, and my regular no brand name lantana doesnโ€™t spread. It does however grow twice as big as the tag says, if not more. So I have to be diligent about cutting it way back in Winter. Just a tip for those in mild climates, lantana will bloom all year long and get massive. They also have really intense root systems, and if a branch touches the ground for long enough it will root and form a new plant much like African daisies. The swoop looks great! I do hope it wonโ€™t only be proven winners plants from here on out though ๐Ÿ˜…

  8. I love the new pots PW has!! I hope other companies follow suit! I'm excited to see your front swoop grow. How beautiful it's going to be!

  9. Oh boy! Your swoop is going to be a showstopper, truly!! Thank you for the info about lantana. Who knew? I didn't. Also, I am very pleased about P.W. cans! I am so excited about that. I try, very hard to take care of our Mother Earth. P.W. is the best!!! Thank you!!

  10. Ahh, Janey, your patio pot recipe also inspired me this year. I have a small rose garden in my front yard that I underplant with annuals each year. I'm in So Cal 10b. All my yellow petunias are supposed to arrive from PW next week. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Regarding the nursery pots, my nursery takes them back for their growers to use again. Unfortunately, PW is not readily available near me, so I'm usually shopping at Armstrong. They take them all back, including the six packs. I'm looking forward to seeing your swoop progress. ๐ŸŒž

  11. Beautiful! ๐Ÿต๐ŸŒผ I would love to know which compost you used! Just starting out, and the options overwhelming! Also, which drip do you have in the bed (spaghetti or ?)? Thank you for showing all that you do! ๐ŸŽ‰

  12. Iโ€™m looking forward to see how itโ€™s going to fill out. So far your corner has been a show stopper, Iโ€™m excited to see the turnout.๐Ÿ˜

  13. The swoop is gorgeous! I wonder how well the compostable cans would do in the Lomi composter? Have you given it a try?

  14. Just recieved a proven winners shipment with 4 Supertunia Vista bubblegum. I planted all 4 in a 18 inch planter. Should I reduce it to the 2 plants? Put the other 2 elsewhere?

  15. Hi greetings! Just found your channel. I have a question for you. I have Lantenas I planted a year ago, they are still brown no leafs at all on them. Will they come back every year?? I'm in Northern CA.

  16. I really liked the video footage with your husband videos you! More of that would be nice. I think you were able to be more educational and not so concerned about speaking into your phone or the camera. Thank you for sharing. Are you getting nervous about your garden tour with the community foundation that selected you to have people come to your home?

  17. beautiful! Canโ€™t wait to watch them all grow!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

  18. Hi Janie. Love the swoop! Iโ€™m doing some PW Supertunias too and wondered if you knew what makes the stems and leaves get brown later in the season. Is it a disease or too much or too little water. Thanks

  19. It is so pretty. Your neighbors must see you out daily saying Charlie, she's at it again! Those pots are brilliant!!!

  20. This "swoop" will be amazing..๐Ÿ˜. Can I ask, where can I get your hat that you are wearing?? It's amazing and obviously great for sun protection…

  21. Have you ever considered doing drift roses in the swoop? I think that would look pretty. Of course they're not annuals though.
