How to Shape a Bonsai Seedling🌱(Japanese Black Pine)

How to Shape a Bonsai Seedling🌱(Japanese Black Pine)

In this short we give a straight, boring Pine a shape by adding some wire and giving it that classic Bonsai S curve! I then show you the process of taking the wire off a few months later to see how the shape stays in place!

Japanese Black Pine is a popular species for Bonsai Trees because of its unique aesthetic qualities, durability, and adaptability to various Bonsai techniques. It has short, sturdy needles that can withstand pruning and shaping, and its bark becomes deeply fissured with age, giving the tree a rugged and aged appearance. Additionally, Japanese Black Pine has a natural tendency to produce a compact, densely branched canopy, making it an ideal candidate for creating miniature trees with an impressive visual impact.

  1. I've been growing some Japanese black pine from seed and I'm excited to see how much movement I can get into them! Great video 🙂

  2. Does this work to create a semi cascade? Sorry if this is a bad question, I’m new.
