  1. I usually agree with most of your suggestions but not sure about many of these. I don’t know how you can say that most of the outdoor IKEA furniture looks better than a nice modern patio set at Costco. Also, I think your suggestions are fine for anyone who prefers a minimalist style but not everyone like minimalist/modern style.

  2. I disagree with you on not buying Costco outdoor furniture. If you stay away from the busy wicker, they have some excellent sets that will last over 10 years. The cushion on the set I just bought are Sunbrella- they last even longer. They have more contemporary sets, and I have always been happy with their quality and look. Who wants to buy Amazon and Target furniture that will get thrown away in a few years when the cushions fail? So wasteful.

  3. I get tired of the cheep outdoor solar stake lighting. Most of the time they are tipped-over, or not working properly. This is an item where a few extra dollars can really improve quality.

  4. I love Valentina and agree with most of this video but have to disagree with the hanging pot comment. Anyone can argue that hanging pots looks terrible when backing up the claim with images of ugly plastic and disco ball inspired ones and showcasing an open air modern outdoor space. However I have beautiful large black wired baskets hanging near the black posts on my rear covered patio and they look wonderful with the contrast of rich green foliage spilling out of them. I also live in a part of the world with a mild winters (cold but no snow) so they stay alive and look good most of the year if I take the time to swap out any seasonal plantings and I own the right hose attachment that makes watering them easy. It’s a good reminder that a designer’s personal preference should not be confused with a design rule.

  5. I move my plants a lot, depending on the temperature, so don't want anything too heavy. If plant is full and lush, it's more visual than the pots. Love hanging plants that are well positioned.

  6. Blueish outdoor LED lights anywhere… sconces, hanging cafe lights, pathway lighting, etc. Imo warmer lights look more classic and are better for not attracting insects/ disrupting wildlife.

  7. Also the rocking chair comment. Are you kidding me? First thing I bought when we moved into our Craftsman home

  8. I agree with everything you said today…especially hanging planters! 🌸🍃🌷🍃🌺🍃👏👏👏

  9. I love my sign that you posted 😅 my mom got it for us to just give the space color. It’s not a Down grade mmmm we live in Florida & it’s fun. I was over a sterile outdoor area given we are outside playing in the pool & patio 24/7. Not too much but anyway. I will cherish what my mom gives me. Life is short to be rude to the ones we love so enjoy the colorful tacky Downgraded plague 😁

  10. Plastic pots hold moisture and are best for succulents. I suggest researching the best type of planter for specific plants. Some plants prefer terra cotta and others porcelain.

  11. I simply cannot watch one of your videos all the way through. Your constant laughing when it's not funny is so obnoxious. You really need to work on that. And you obviously have never seen a Southern porch with large hanging boston ferns. You make my heart hurt for the folks who rely on places like Costco for outdoor furniture. Some people think all black and white is a trendy drag. That would never fly in my carefully curated antique filled home or my large screened porch full of mismatched wicker. Jeez!

  12. Ugh guilty of a few of these… trying to classy up my outdoor space, but I will have some of these NO NO's in my space!!

  13. Please … its only her thirsty opinion..Is Architectural Digest doing a home tour of her one note home? No they are not…

  14. Plastic planters – I usually agree 100%, but have you seen the BHG planters at Walmart? They are beautiful! Walmart has really upped their game, and have lots of home furniture/decor/outdoor collection items that compete (or beat) those from Target and IKEA imo. Love all of your advice and tips.

  15. One of my houses had wrap around porch. love a wrap around porch with big lush long green foilage and flowers you cant even see the pot. I agree the plastic hanging pots that even with flowers in them you see the pot. I love a swing on porch, and i twine twinkling lights and flowers through it, and wicker
furniture throw blanket , plants down the stairs, looks sooo cozy and inviting
My friends used to take family photos on it. Every season i dresses that porch. Miss that house
    Great tips

  16. Unmanageable hoses! I loath seeing garden hoses hanging off the side of a house like an umbilical. A plumbing hernia! The area is often neglected from constant use. First at the tap, I put down large river rock to keep the area free of mud. The rock are corralled using thick edger turned inward so I can mow around this easily. I keep the hoses out of sight in winding hose boxes which. I don't have to move the boxes to mow or trim because the rocks also act as a weed barrier. (of course smaller hoses can go in a nice decorative bowl.) I also have a decorative hose hanger staked to the ground so I can hang the end of my hose when I'm not using it. Then rather than use the basic plastic hose guides, I use the decorative hose guides to keep hoses from being dragged through my flower beds. I agree about smalls in the garden. The garden hose guides could be like little gems — earrings or as inconspicuous as one wants.

  17. “Buy once, cry once!” Love that!! So true. Spend the money on investment pieces and be done! ♥️

  18. I rarely comment in a negative way but really was offended by your video…I enjoy making my backyard space a warm welcoming space and not make it stuffy or cold…I really objected to most of your comments and felt you were making fun of how many people enjoy bringing space and color to their backyard patio. I after watched another outdoor video and totally enjoyed her decor and you would as you do laugh at her style.
