Why I Don’t Kill Weeds in my Yard! #backyardfarm #urbanchickens #microhomestead

Did you know that dandelions are edible and medicinal?

You can eat the flowers and greens in a salad and the roots can be used to make a warm beverage similar to coffee! You can also make dandelion wine with the flowers! I might try that this year!

Dandelions are full of vitamins A, B, C, and D, as well as minerals, such as iron, potassium, and zinc. (MountSinai.org)

Dandelion is most notably used as a diuretic medicinally and can be used as a mild appetite stimulant. The root can be used as a mild laxative.

I’m obviously not a doctor so please consult with one if you’re taking any medications or have any health issues. Anytime you supplement with herbs, you should always mention this to your doctor as you would with any medications you might be taking. Herbs can interact with many medications and could make health issues worse.

  1. Don't eat stuff that grows in your yard or field if its been sprayed with pesticides in the past year. Some people get it sprayed for weeds

  2. I hope you understand that dandelions have a huge amount of toxic chemicals within them. Eat away but remember they can kill you if you eat to much.
