  1. I love how much you emphasize general inspiration rather than exact plantings. I get so inspired by your plantings, although in a totally different climate; zone 9 Louisiana, in swampland. I cannot grow many of the plants you show (hostas, hydrangeas, pulmonaria), however the colors and textures you use are a great inspiration for me.

  2. Love your shade gardens!
I have vented on her the problems in my area of getting the products/plants you recommend. Just an update. I ordered Land and Sea from Amazon. Found Biotone in small bags at a local hardware store. When I found Proven winners, I bought them. I planted about 50+ perennials in the landscape, some were from Wayside Gardens, the rest from various hardware stores and farm markets, high school horticultural shop. One trip to Fredericksburg (66 miles away)Things are looking nice. Today I finished all the back porch and patio pots, about 20. The pots look great, hoping the stay great all summer, especially in June when we celebrate or 50th anniversary. But with the tips you have given I have learned a lot about maintaining my pots.

  3. Thank you for pointing out the time it has taken to build your garden. I do find myself getting impatient especially watching all the pros here on YouTube. We just moved into our new home in Georgia last year after living in the Midwest for all of our lives. So much to learn about southern gardening, slopes and compacted clay soil. Trying my absolute best and enjoying it as long as I keep in mind it’s a process. Also trying to be mindful of my budget! Love proven winners but you’ve gotta budget, they are an investment for sure!!
Thanks for all you do. Love the information you work so hard to share with us. ❤

  4. Jenny.. need some advice here. Leaftiers – Annabelle hydrangeas… what should I use to combat this? Been a battle.

  5. Hi Becky: just want to give a quick note on fertilizing tomatoes. I heard about using alfalfa pellets, placing a handful in the hole when planting and making a tea to water them with every one or two weeks. Put 2 cups of the pellets in a 5 gallon pail, fill with water and the water your plants. You can also use the leftover mash to put around your plants and it will keep working every time the plants are watered. I had the best crop of tomatoes last year with no blossom end rot. A lot better than using the egg method. You need to use alfalfa bought at a greenhouse and not a pet store. Lol.

  6. I love how you used the sunlight to create a visual impact with the Wiggles and Squiggles!!! Now I know how to create that type of visual. Thank you 😊

  7. I love your mushrooms. Can you please share where non Michigan residents can purchase them. Thank you!

  8. I'm in Texas and have a couple of shade gardens in my very small yard that I'm trying to develop. Thank you for the ideas!

  9. How wonderful! I was busy writing down names of several plants in your shade garden to try and find for my shade garden – love the whimsy of it.

  10. Hi Jenny. Love your shade garden. I'm Jennie from Dallas Ga. I'm working on my shade garden so it helps with all your inspiration. Can you please tell ne what kind of mulch you use. Thank you. Keep up the great work. .Yourself and Jerry.

  11. Love, love your shade garden. What do you use to fertilize your plants? It would be awesome if you could go over how you take care of them and what you use to fertilize them with! Thank you!

  12. Haha! I’m am so with you on the soapbox about walking through flower beds!! My neighbor came running over, and he ran through my edged and mulched garden bed with tons of tulip bulbs breaking the soil. I said, “🫨You just trekked all OVER MY TULIPS!” He told me that I should gate my beds so people will not walk on them. 🤦🏻‍♀️He almost started an episode of neighborhood wars. Lol
I got pitcher plants last year. I think I killed them.

  13. Our shade bed on the north side of the house has always had plants like hosta, heuchera, astilbe, and ferns. You have inspired us to add browallia, torenia, and caladium. The "endless illumination" browallia should look great once it gains some size.

  14. Shade gardens can be so pretty. I did a mass planting of sure fire begonias yesterday under the oak tree. I blended 10 sure fire rose and 10 sure fire cherry cordial. I also have astilbes , heucheras, and in the back sun side I have the yellow day Lillies. Looks so nice when everything is at its peak bloom

  15. Can this type of begonia be grown as a houseplant? Most of the ones I see grown as houseplants are Rex varieties and they intimidate me. I live in Arizona and struggle to keep enough humidity in my bedroom where all of my plants are. Everything is under grow lights. I only get morning sun on my apartment patio but it's intense desert sun that scorches leaves. Unfortunately, it's not enough light for the majority of plants to bloom. My tradescantia and basil don't care and bloom but nothing else seems to bloom. My only successful flowers have been inside under grow lights that are on 12-13 hours a day.

  16. Would it be safe to relocate our huge limelight hydrangea now? No blooms yet.

  17. Love the shade garden! So much diversity throughout and it blends just perfectly! Love those Rockapulco impatiens! A perfect pop of color for

  18. You can show as many begonias as you want. They are absolutely beautiful!

  19. I absolutely love your shade garden videos. All of the different shades of green and textures. “Absolutely gorgeous!” 😉

  20. I'm glad you mentioned the root systems of the begonias! I needed some annuals to provide root shade to my new clematis (from Brushwood, thanks for the rec!) that wouldn't compete for room in the container, and my local garden shop person was able to advise me to try a verbena instead of petunia. I'll keep begonias in mind for the future too!

  21. Thank you so much for sharing your garden. I’m putting in more plants into my shade garden and would love to have a couple of the sun king. I’m sure there’s more to the name but I hope you know what I’m talking about. Would you sure the full name of the plant please. I’m in zone 6b. Could I plant it here?

  22. Your shade garden tours are always a favorite of mine since my garden is primarily part sun, part shade. I get so many ideas from you. I agree with you on the rockapulco double impatiens. I discovered them last year and bought more this year. They offer a nice pop of color.
