Pictured: Afternoon sun shines through the leaves of a 300-year-old live oak tree. This cherished tree was a key element in the design of this house, hardscape, and gardens. The pool in front and the river alongside it were designed so as not to disturb its roots; and the plantings—all native or native-compatible—build a supportive woodland ecosystem. A path made of local Lueders limestone creates a rough-and-tumble terrain filled with Berkeley sedge.
