Linda, I would go with the Japanese maple. It would be so pretty with little white lights in it to shine a soft glow of light in that area. After the tree gets a little larger I would plants some hostas under it. Also, I would get a self contained bubbling pot for the soft trickle of running water. The birds love mine!

Love the idea of your oak leaf hydrange in the spot by the garage. It'll be beautiful. Not liking that narrow walkway on the side of the house. I have visions of falling down the hill.

Of course you should do the oak leaf hydrangea because you already love that plant so much. Espaliers made of any thing will be perfect for this shorter building, they will look grand.
Not seen this video before hand, I too went to my local Walmart last week and bought home my first encore azalea for $4. I found some great mark down on plants. Still trying to decide where to place it.

To greenhouse or not to greenhouse, seems like you need a temporary greenhouse, one that can be assembled and disassembled the only space that we haven’t seen is the inside of the garage . Would there be space inside the garage?😂
My fig leaf hydrangea is Hugh in Georgia so you may be sorry in 4 or 5 years when it blocks the doorway.
I would do the Oakleaf. All the memories would make me smile every time I walked by 🙂
I believe I am totally in the minority but I always vote for the rose!
I think espaliered trees do have winter interest because of their architecture, but I'm definitely leaning toward the oakleaf hydrangea for the corner of the garage 💚

I lean toward the Japanese maple also. With the azaleas trimmed up as topiaries by your garage door, I feel like the hydrangeas might fight with that..?? The oak leaf hydrangeas will be beautiful in another place. I also like putting the small greenhouse maybe in the back corner of the house. I'm very unfamiliar with what type of footprint it might have so you'll have to be 'the boss' of this decision. I'm working so hard in my garden, I've given up many days of my golf. ha! I LOVE working in my yard. It's my therapy and so are your videos. My husband calls you Ms. Oklahoma and enjoys them also but wants to know why he has to help me so much and we don't see hubs. He wants to join hubs!

Maybe a hedge of evergreen Arbovitae will provide more privacy and will feel like a secure pathway and will not feel like you’re gonna trip over and fall
Love the idea of the Japanese Maple but the color might blend too much with the garage brick. An espalier, if it’s a fruit tree would need a lot of sun. The oak leaf hydrangea bight be a challenge but turn out great.

Re the garage wall. I would suggest going with the oak leaf hydrangea. – it’s native and tough – and 4 season interest. I think Japanese maple is not tough t enough for an Oklahoma. And your head and wind will not be kind to it. Re rose- the same applies. So I vote for the Oak leaf hydrangea

I love the Japanese Maple option. I do not have the climate zone for it. I would die for a Japanese Maple. Hydrangeas are so common and are lovely – but are too much the 'go to' plant solution. Go for something out of the unusual. Your vision in gardening are quite wonderful.
