How to Grow Yuca aka Cassava roots. I like to plant them in April and May, just before our rainy season starts here in Florida. We don’t water or fertilize them. They produce pounds and pounds of edible roots in 9-12 months. It is propagated by cuttings, not by the roots. This is an awesome survival crop choice since its dependable and produces even in harsh/hot/dry conditions.
