Wicking Bed Build

www.pacificpermaculture.ca
A 20 min video describing in, quick and easy steps, how to build a self watering wicking bed.

In the end this was not my favorite design. I had much more success with this one:

This other design works really well if you already have normal pots that you want to retrofit into wicking style pots.

  1. That's so awesome thank you for sharing I'm going to try this this year I could really use some help on my zucchini I don't have any luck

  2. What was the point of making the lid fit inside tighter, when you are going to cut large holes in the lid top anyway.

  3. This is probably the smartest way to store your plants and the best way to water plants. Good Effort 👍

  4. You could use the leftover lid that snaps on the bottom of the Rubbermaid to hold plastic to start new plants like a cold frame, and maybe during fall grow some cold hardy plants in à mini greenhouse.

  5. I've watched several, and I liked yours the best, c'est le meilleur le votre, merci beaucoup M. Lemieux!

  6. Love your videos, I have a small space , been wanting to try wicking containers. Thank you for sharing.

  7. Thank you for sharing the video. I am a new gardener and would like to see different types of manners to start with my backyard gardening

  8. wHY DO WE NEED CONTAINERS IN THE BOTTOM, why can't we just used the plastic lid and connect it to the side of the tub using screws? I must be missing something here.

  9. I have used EARTH BOXES FOR OVER 30 YEARS
GOOGLE EARTH BOXES YOU CAN LEARN TO BUILD THEM AND YOU CAN WATER FROM THE TOP NOT THUR THE OVERFLOW DRAIN HOLE THE ONLY THING I LIKE ABOUT HIS SYSTEM IS HIS GROWING MEDIUM
I HAVE SIZES FROM KITTY LITTER BOX'S TOATS AND HALF OF A 55 GALLON BARRELS
WE GROW CUKES CANTELOP TOMATOES BEANS 6' IN THE AIR CONCRETE REINFORCEIING WIRE
A LITTLE RESEARCH WILL MAKE HIS SYSTEM BETTER
    HAVE A GREAT WEEK

  10. This is a bit off-topic question. But the PVC pipe containers in the background intrigues me. Do you have a video on it? If not, what material is the black container made of? Thanks! Really loved this.

  11. Thank you Mr Jessie❤
    Great and very technique.
I am looking for this method for many years ago.
Again. I appreciated to you 👏👍🌹🍺💐

  12. Water has the amazing ability to seek it's own level = Water has the unfortunate ability to seek the most destruction it can find.

  13. Water is the second laziest thing on earth, second only to GenZ , it will find the lowest place to settle.

  14. Good advice. How about taking that fabric and covering the entire platform so the soil doesn’t go into the reservoir? It may be expensive at first but it can probably be reused the next year. Btw, I use acrylic yarn wicks for my indoor African violets water system-which drink water from a cutoff pop bottle. The potted plant has a good potting mix with the yarn. The yarn travels from close to the top of the soil to the bottom of the bottle reservoir. The yarn drinks up water and weak solution of fertilizer. The roots actually grow toward the yarn and grow onto the wet wick all the way into the pop bottle. 0:03 This system is a self watering fix for fussy African violets (leaves shouldn’t be wet) and believe it or not the plant gets stiff (engorged with water) from its constant ability to suck up water and bloom so profusely, too.

  15. Gardening in plastic when sun hits chemicals leach into dirt and roots of plants . Better to go to a farmers market .
