Very Welcome RAIN in the Garden #3

Here in the North of England, we have been having a bit of a heatwave. The rain that came this last couple of weeks was so very welcome and has made everything in my garden grow phenomenally! Weeds too!
In this video I’ll show you the work that my Garden Team were doing in the pouring rain in my Front Woods. We have a long term plan for this area. Watch this space!

In fact, please DO watch this space – subscribe and click the notification bell because I don’t post regularly and you may miss an update. To try and help with that I am numbering each video.

The Last Homely House channel has just reached a wonderful milestone – 100K subscribers. If you are one of them – THANK you very much!

I chose music for this video from Epidemic Sound to reflect the content. I hope you like it. Here you have
Willow
First Drops of Rain
and
Across The Lake
very fitting I thought

The recipe for Gooseberry Fool is very simple.
Top and tail the gooseberries and give them a good wash. In a saucepan add a good handful of caster sugar to the berries with a glug of undiluted elderflower cordial. Heat gently for 10 minutes. The berries should not be mushy. Taste and adjust the sugar if you like.
Fold this into lightly beaten double cream, one small pot of the stuff.
That’s it. Serve with little biscuits, shortbread traditionally, but I had amaretti biscuits. Delicious!

  3. Love your garden videos because I don't have a green thumb. I noticed the bird feeders & you don't have a hummingbird feeder . Why?

  4. Kate, do you not have snake worries on your property? I live in North Carolina, USA and there are snake concerns.

  6. Gorgeous gardens. SOOOOO much food and plants. Did I hear you say that this team comes on Tuesdays??? Is this volunteer work, or grant work?? There's a LOT of talent there. KUDOS for being able to have them help out. Looking forward to the building of the pathways through your "jungle" and to the disposition of the Willow branches. Blessings to you Kate. Thanks again for the lovely music too.

  7. Love the peacefulness of your garden as the work to set up pathways continues. Better than an hour of therapy!! Blessings, Dawn

  8. Hi Kate ! Thank you for the beautiful video. I am looking at a handful of fresh blackberries and a small box of fresh blueberries. So i am inspired by the gooseberry fool idea ! I admire all of your flowering trees and shrubs..Thank you

  9. So enjoying 'being' in your garden, Kate, and loving all the natural wildness surrounding your plot. Doesn't it all smell lovely after the rain? I'm vicariously enjoying all your veg production as this year mine is taking a back seat while I regenerate another part of my garden, concentrate on my mini meadow and save every other spot I can find for bee-loving plants.

  10. Hello Kate, thank you for showing natures gift of peace and tranquillity that is within your garden. I feel relaxed and happy watching it. Take care x♥

  11. What a wonderful job you and your helpers have made of the garden – it will be even more lovely when you get the pathways through that pretty wilderness area. I can imagine you must feel like you’re in heaven when you go for a stroll first thing in the morning or on a warm summer evening. Best wishes from freezing Perth, Western Australia 🙂

  12. Are you planning to make a fence or baskets or something with the cut willow branches?

  13. Oh just heard you saying something about pathways. Are you going to make a corduroy road with cut willow branches?

  14. Thank you, thank you for a delightful amble through rainy North England today. Such a refreshing visit Kate! It's 105F where I am today in California….tomorrow's forecast is for 110F.

  15. I so enjoy your garden. I can't have a garden the ground is very hard and it is way to hot. People do plant but it take way to much watering, not friendly to our desert. Trying to find a good place in the house for my geranium ans 1 other plant since we are in 108f and higher for who knows how long.
Always happy to see a new vlog Kate❤

  16. Lots of work for your and your team . The garden is truly breathtaking.. Must be awesome to eat from your own garden. Blessings Kate
