  1. I am protecting my new tomatoes and ripening strawberries from the sqirrels, birds with organza bags.

  2. Thank you for all your content and sharing your knowledge! What's your best suggestion for rollie pollies (pill bugs)? Diatomaceous earth hasnt worked beaides for a few and sluggo plus hasnt aolves the problem either

  3. We have 3 cats that do a good job keeping critters away from the garden. We usually have a Cat Bird claim our blackberry patch and chase all other birds away. He even scolds us when we pick the berries.

  4. I had the same experience with my brassicas this year: was able to fight off the cabbage moths and their caterpillars but slugs and snails everywhere. Beer traps (I have them sitting in a dish with carbonated water away from my plants; the carbonated water knocks them out) and finely ground eggshells around the bottom of the plants seems to be working.

  5. A lot of information for a newbie. I'll have to watch this several more times. I'm in Ohio too. Thank you. Just a bit overwhelming.

  6. So glad l found your channel l live in Batavia and my plants where not looking great but the few showers have them smiling now l have hope.

  7. Weird: Toronto here, I grow in Greenstalks, because that's all I have room for, and there are tons of snails on them! Maybe I should consider looking up escargot recipes…

  8. Yes! I kept finding my onion seedlings just pulled out and laying within a a few inches or so from where I planted them. Thanks for so much information Jenna!

  9. Thanks for another great video! I live in western PA & our conditions are very similar. Birds had been nabbing my seedlings as well. A few years ago, I started planting radishes around all of my cucurbits. They germinate faster & the birds seem to leave them alone. Once the cucurbits are up and have a few sets of true leaves, I snip the radishes off. Quick & easy if you don’t have netting!

  10. Good morning I hope your haveing a great day. I was wonderingif you might share seeds (any would be great)im a mother in a low income family and do all i can with the ground and pots i have to graw some of our food (im in zone 6a). Or know of a place that would donate seeds? Or both? Lol I'm sorry to ask this Here, I didn't see a Facebook or anything.

  11. Found you , I am here in Ohio. Would you have an idea of what to plant on a side garden? I would like to maximize about 50' at the side of my house.
I wish all in the community will consider a vegetable garden in their yard.

  12. I just started watching and I see you plant Blueberries in containers. I am in Nebraska 5b zone, do you think they would survive our winters in a pot Blizzards and below zero usually.

    Thanks

  13. The moles are a nightmare here in NE Florida this year too. I have Barred Owls that nest in my yard but it's not enough to deter the moles and rabbits. Ticks have also been a huge problem this year. They seemed to arrive around the same time as the moles.

  14. Im finding this year is my worst ever for animals eating my garden plants. Groundhogs, chipmunks, rabbits, and moles are waging a war on my little patch of green! Ive tried everything possible and they're finally easing up on it. A fake owl, pie pans, predator urine, dog and human hair , marigolds, alliums, garden lights, live traps, chicken wire, and a yappy dog are finally doing the job lol

  15. I'm in Kansas and this year has been so difficult compared to years prior. Makes one wonder what is going on. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us and you give me hope in getting the broccoli, cabbage, Carrots and other greens that bugs and heat wiped out this past month. I will be doing July planting for sure. Luck be with you

  16. Just found your channel and love the info so far!! Also, loving those overalls! Where are they from?

  17. Try a diluted vinegar stay and/or Irish spring soap shaving around your garden to deal with chipmunks and squirrels

  18. Have you tried Plantskydd as an animal repellent? I have not but may consider it for groundhogs, rabbits, deer, chipmunks, and squirrels

  19. Try this for moles. I used to listen for years to a Saturday show on gardening on San Francisco radio station by this old experienced guy, when I didn't even have a garden. He used to say again and again that dry ice works super well. Drop it into the burrow and co2 keeps down and suffocates them peacefully. That's all I know. I never tried it myself. Cheers
