Hi nick no we didn’t have any issues with our early potatoes. Planted Mother’s Day and we have been eating them a month nearly already they grew well and are delish. The charlottes second early will be eating those in about a week or so as they are now ready and the earlies are almost gone. The main crop are massive almost 4’ tall and have flowers but of course they will stay in right up till autumn. All we did was grow in no dig ground. We covered once with compost to protect from frosts then we covered with straw. We didn’t water them at all the charlottes I watered once wen it was hot and dry. That’s it they do look after themselves we find. 🙋🏻
All my potatoes that i grew this year are from Aldi, i did purposely leave a lot to go and sprout.
I have two types from Aldi, whites and reds. The whites are do extreamly well well but the red potatoes are very poor and i don't think i will get much from them, but i do love red potatoes. It is very rarely i buy seed potatoes. Your allotment do look good, keep on top of the bind weds, I have them in my garden, its like a full time job just to keep them under control .
