  1. That looks really nice, love the changes. My husband and I are constantly changing things on our one acre property. We've been here 50 years so there's been lots of changes over the years from a blank canvas. The Eastern Redbud should do fine where you are. I'm in central Illinois and they are native here, so i think similar climate to you. You will probably be pulling up seedlings everywhere like we do. Don't cut any trees down!

  2. Love everything you do… and absolutely love your cat… I have a similar looking cat, but she doesn’t like to be held and I’ve had her since she was a kitten… she’s really sweet and super smart but she just doesn’t like to be carried or held or sit on you 😊

  3. It is truly beautiful as is, but I share your wanting to change it up so I would trim the trees up and the large shrubs low. If you don't like the openess, it will grow back and all is good. I wouldn't take out anything. Love your podcasts and all you do! In Christ ❤

  4. Maravilloso Mary, todo lo que haces queda hermoso. Es por su dedicación y entrega que el resultado siempre es fabuloso!🥰🥰🥰🥰😘🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  5. Mary, I love what you did! It looks so open and lovely and everything has room to spread out. I'm hoping your tree is fine and manages to thrive through the winter. Fabulous job, Mary. Can't wait to see your garden grow, Mary! 🙂

  6. Looks beautiful Mary! I love the blue spruce but I think it may cause you problems down the road in the place where you planted it. Also keep your beautiful trees! Perhaps thin the branches out a bit if you want to see out a bit more. Thank you for your wonderful posts!

  7. I love what you did! Regarding mature trees they are fine. If you love them leave them. Let nature tell you. You always trim them.

  8. Everything looks beautiful – the new plants & the clean lines that just neaten up things! Fantastic work by both of you.

  9. Beautiful space…
I hope you will love the Redbud, I have several and nothing says spring like the Redbuds blooming!

  10. I really hope my comment doesn't end up in your bottom, comments! All that ground cover you pulled out at the beginning and filled the wheelbarrow you didn't want to put it anyplace else or give it away free… I'm way down in North Carolina but I would have loved that ground cover along my side-yard LOL

  11. Mary! Your newly designed and replanted gardens are gorgeous! Well done! You have added a lot of depth, dimension, and interest to that area! I hope you will be pleased with it as it matures. The dark leaf bark is a beautiful finishing touch. The stone steps John added are another beautiful touch of intrigue and functionality. I loved your humor about it making you happy! Any gardening improvement I, too, am able to accomplish definitely gives me joy.😊

  12. That’s what I want to do for some of my flower beds. The deer eat my hosta so I’m giving up on them. I’m going to plant more shrubs, they will be less maintenance. Don’t cut down your trees, maybe just trim them.

  13. You have such a lovely home. Showcase the front. Limb up the trees and either trim that huge round bush or remove. You will be able to keep your trees and plant lovely things underneath. I am sure that whatever you do will be beautiful.

  14. Keep the trees! I have lots of trees, and couldn't be happier. If they bring you joy, keep them.

  15. I love the trees like they are!! I think it makes for a lovely walk to your front door!! Your makeover on the other side is so pretty!!

  16. (Rob's wife here)
    It looks so beautiful!
Maybe consider just limbing up the trees? Or maybe just remove one…to give a better view. I definitely wouldn't remove all of them altogether.
You have such a beautiful property ❤️
I bet you were sure the next day. That was a lot of work!
