Raised Garden Beds Are So Yesterday!

I’m building a hydroponic grow tower using parts from the hardware store. I can grow 10 times the amount of food I grow now in my raised garden beds in the same amount of space by going up. You can grow a garden in any space, including an apartment and this costs 50% to 75% less than buying a consumer hydroponic tower. Grow your own food and become self-reliant.

  1. I'm SO glad that you did a video on this. I have watched countless videos and was just not satisfied with what I was seeing. When I saw you had put out one on this, I knew it would be awesome. Great construction and easy to build. And as always… you daughter is so CUTE! She is such an awesome helper.

  2. Really appreciate this video. Im already ordering parts. Just a quick question. I assume it was gorilla glue, but what did use to to secure the holders at the bottom of the enclosure?

  3. I want to ask you if the water must be drains all the time or we switch it of after a while?
Tell me pleas because I want to do like this I like it so much.
And thank you for this informations.

  4. Love this—can you do a video explaining how the watering works, and how/when you feed the plants? I still don't understand hydroponics, how is it viable to spend money on the setup/electricity/water/nutrients all to produce a few lettuces?

  5. I like your build, the square tube makes it easier but it is probably costlier than a round pipe. Did you make one with the round pipe? Have you also considered making a simple angled jig to make the holes at an angle with a hole saw? I think it would be faster than cutting them with the jigsaw. I'm somewhat concerned that a strong wind would topple the towers because it is essentially the top of the plastic reservoir that is holding the long posts full of plants which makes it top-heavy.

  6. The best part about this channel is how you involved your kids. Those kids are really lucky. You are a great Father. Thank you.

  7. Awesome work! It may help if you add an air pump and air stone to the container to add oxygen into the water.

  8. They do this at DisneyWorld, trying to make new ways to grow more food in small places and waste as little food as possible and grow as much of it on their own property

  9. Love this video, going to be putting one together myself, but the only question I have is, what are the things that you put the seedlings into in the towers?

  10. Oh and maybe how to hook the hydro system up to a solar panel? thank you for having fun and engaging videos.

  11. I have all the equipment, pumps and solutions for hydroponics and never did anything with it. The gophers destroyed my garden. Just watching you gave me the incentive to set up my hydroponics. Thanks for an awesome video.

  12. Is there any chance you could create a comment that has the list of all the materials used? My wife loves growing things but we don't have room for a proper garden and I think I may suggest this to her, thank you!

  13. Anyone have issues of leaking from the net cup holders? First 3 weeks I had no problems and replaced the water every 7 days. Now at week 8 I am running dry in 2 freaking days. Water is basically channeling around the edge of the net cup and dripping to the ground. No one ever talks about the cons of these diy towers.
