  2. Thank you, Kim. I am in the Sacramento area. I am excited about the July box! Now that I know (I'm an amateur), I will cover my plants and move my tomatoes into the shade, too. I've got seedlings started, so must protect the babies. It's going to be 110 or so by this Sunday.🥵

  3. This is so helpful, thank you! My first year gardening and I was wondering what I can do to help during this heatwave 🙂

  4. In the south it's good to have some afternoon shade. Trees provide nice filtered light and a cooling effect. Allows the plants to rest abit. As you say, shade cloth can help.

  5. Had to head outside for my plants this morning. My summer squash plant was looking stressed. Perked right up once I watered it at the root.

  6. Aargh! My mother's garden got hit by an activist, half of it was sprayed with an unknown herbicide. Whatever they used, it is strong. It wiped out half of her peppers, her Brussel Sprouts, squash, several tomato plants, all of her Seascape Strawberries, roses, and several flowers leading to the garden. A Sheriff's Deputy came out and made a report. The soil alone is estimated as being in excess of $1300 and will most likely have to be replaced, total damage in excess of $3500. Needless to say, I don't expect the police to do anything. They are too busy with other crimes, shootings, stabbings, robberies, etc. Alabama is a castle doctrine state. They know I am strapped up, and will zero anyone I catch on our property. I have their blessings. Yes it has come to that. Law enforcement can no longer protect the citizens it is charged with protecting.

  7. Thank you for the good advice. I am new to gardening, and I was sed straw this year on my garden and have grass growing. What a disaster! Is that supposed to happen? Thanks.

  8. Heat index was 96 degrees today. Almost overheated today working in the garden. Won’t be doing that again. 90+ through Sunday. Going to be planting cucumber and bean seeds tomorrow night once the sun goes down when it’s cooler. Also have to water every other day now.

  9. YUP! Just keep watering! They are thirsty in the heat like us 😉. Love your devotion to what you enjoy doing! Great way to live life. I'm there as well.. 😊

  10. Yuck the word heat wave is a dirty word it's supposed to be 113 this weekend stay cool Kim and I will definitely keep your tips in mind

  11. Kim, first I want to say how beautiful your garden & backyard is looking! QUESTION: Can I use regular mulch on my vegetable plants? We had a truck dump off mulch that is long type mulch & it’s supposedly biodegradable! Thanks for your help… 🪴🍅🫑🪴
