  1. Good deal!
And remember they are designed to hold water which is 8lbs a gallon, so the trough is pretty doggone strong! So 103 gallons water = 824lbs!!
I think the dirt and compost might weigh less than that and exert less pressure outwards.
I’m really looking forward to see what you do with this and how it works out.
    Thanks Robbie!

  2. I’ve used these water tanks for years. I’ve many type containers made of several materials for gardening, these tanks are my favorites. This Brand is my fav metal tank & best value. Btw, the 6 feet long works great too. And the 6 foot one loads into my SUV just fine with back seat folded flat for self delivery. Interestingly, my 6 ft long one costs less in Illinois than your 4 ft one in Ca. (Same place/HD)……inspiring me to go get another while our price is as of yet – not bumped up💁🏻‍♀️. Another value tip, look for ones with dents, H.D., and farm stores will give a great discount on dented units. The plants don’t care about dents….😂. I add at least one, yearly.
Thanks Robbie, love your channel. 🫶🏻

  3. Could you do straw layers of potatoes and layer the straw then a layer of potatoes and keep layering until the raised bed is full keep it barely damp?

  4. Those are stock troths not planters earth weght is similar to water weight you should have no issues with it bulging.. I have a water troth in servise with live stock that is over 10 years old.. should work great.. I don't think you should paint it.. have fun..

  5. Hi Robbie and Gary! I put in water tanks last year because of Maple tree roots. Also, a creek runs alongside my backyard, and I have lots of tunneling wildlife. Last of all, the best sunlight is close to the house, where I have concerns about the soil safety — termite treatments and red paint flakes from an old (1960's?) deck. One thing I did with the steel troughs was putting spray rubber on the bottom and all the seams on the outside. I also got some plastic troughs, so I can compare the life spans of steel versus plastic. I' m looking forward to comparing notes.

  6. I love these metal beds. I will have to stick with wood beds or the totes. I think I. My area I border Phoenix Az and in the summer I think it will fry my plants. I love the totes though.

  7. You can throw tree branches, wood, etc, and build that up as high as you want it. This way you don't have to fill the whole tub up with soil. Any tree branches, wood, cardboard, twigs, etc. actually halp your soil as it's breaking down over time.

  8. THANK YOU FOR SHARING ,I want to make a jacuzzi with one ,do you know if it will hold water ?

  9. I'm planning to use one as a shower/ bath in my RV build, Thank you for sharing 👍,love your garden ideas .

  10. There's a Y Tube video about some new paint invention that keeps stuff cool .

  11. I want to do containers so bad! The gophers get stuff every year. But now the fire ants get in every bucket and container I plant in. What to do?

  12. several months ago I bought a galvanized fireplace ring 3' diameter from a Farm store . With no bottom that works for me… I'm looking forward to planting in it. I'm really happy to see you using one of the stock tanks. I also bought a round planter from the Australian company, it's very flimsy and more expensive, so stock tanks are my new beds too.

  13. I took 2 steel window wells and put them together. It makes a lovely circular bed for planting for less than $60. You do need 6 screws and bolts to put them solidly together.

  14. Multiple tanks (or even ONE tank) are HARDLY CHEAP! Cheap is $20/bed for my project. This will cost me HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!!! We have very different ideas of cheap!

  15. You could of got a roots organic raised bed that has the plastic in the middle. Best thing on the market. 3x6x1.5 $140. Shipped to your door. You also have to buy 1" pvc pipe. Well worthe it. For your future reference.
Next time I am at home Depot I'll see if they have them in stock and check it out. I can see my fish out doors in it.

  16. Hi Robbie, I was wondering if you could walk us through painting it as well since that’s another thing I’d love to learn besides gardening is how to paint. ☺️
