  1. I made frames out of scrap pallets. 2×2 by 12 inches deep dump in mixture of potting soil and garden soil. Will that work.

  2. Got some onions growing planted 9 days ago. 2×2 by 12 deep. Taking off quick. Mixture of straw leaves and soil.

  3. A lady said she always planted white long radishes in with her squash and kept the vine borers away so I planted last year and it works.

  4. Avoid planting in plastic containers as the dangerous chemicals leech into the water and slip and are then absorbed by the plant, thus ending up in the vegetables/fruits that you consume.

  5. I was held up potting plants because I had no way to drill holes.in my pots. I saw someone use a soldering iron. I found one for $10 and it worked like a charm. Now I think I will go back and put holes in the sides. So glad I found your vid!

  6. The big blue pot has the holes in the bottom but that little plate at the bottom can be twisted to where you can elevate the big pot up some and water will drain better

  7. I don’t get it when people say they don’t like Walmart. But yet they can find just about everything they need at reasonable prices. Duh! The actual info was good.😊

  8. I planted a zucchini plant in a large tote from Walmart ..two weeks ago it has almost covered the tomato cage ..I’m trying to keep the plant up so it won’t get on the ground..Trying to avoid the squash beetle.. so far it’s working 🙌🏽🙌🏽I have zucchini on it and I also did the same thing with some squash plants in totes looked at another video and decided to try neem spray from Amazon.. this is the first year I’ve had squash ..that spray really works🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽it is safe 🥰..Thanks for the video mulching is very helpful I’ll have to add that to my containers..I ha d used leaves but I think I might buy some ..looks like it will work better🙂

  9. Im drying acorn squash seeds. going to roast them first just to try. Definitely going to plant some!!! great video on soil mixture.

  10. Hi Scott, we planted yellow squash in pots last and we got a freezer full! Thanks!

  11. Good work Scott – I like how you actually show the prep of the pots . Also – never thought of drilling holes in the side ! Fish emulsion is a good as the smell is revolting 🤣

  12. I buy clothes baskets from dollar tree and put construction heavy duty black trasg bags in it make my own pots out of it. Very cheap. $1.25 for clothes baskets and maybe 50 cents each for trash bag, fill up your dirt. Poke 2 holes depending on how water drained.

  13. I put two squash plants in one pot they’re both doing excellent should I separate them or leave them in the one pot can somebody please help me on the first time Gardner.

  14. I have a wood burning stilus that I use to melt my holes in my plastic buckets. It makes a nice hole and not a big mess or hard to use.

  15. Thank u I’m growin pumpkins inside this winter there doin really good now I no to move them to bigger pots ..no mess keeping it clean on growlights

  16. What month of the year is the best time to plant. And do you leave those potted vegetables plants outdoors during the winter season?

  17. Interesting video, thank you. Although most gardeners I've seen do NOT mulch zucchini/squash. First, the squash bugs LOVE to hide in mulch. Second, a big bushy squash plant already shades the dirt below, thereby acting as its own mulch.

  18. Great video keeps taking me back a few years. Love the comments.Gof bless be safe

  19. where do you get your hardwood mulch? You are so lucky to have the space to do seedlings like you do. I live in a very small mobile home and there just isnt the space to start seeds in my home. The space I do have is an old desk and a heat matt. Lighting is a problem since Im 64 and rent so I cant hang a light from the ceiling. I rely on a regular old lamp with a daylight bulb.

  20. I’ve found that rice straw as a mulch is epic! Hard to come by though so I mostly use barley straw… I went to school for horticulture and greenhouse management, and other related things, and have found that gardening is mostly subjective, what works for me may not work for another person, so have fun with it and play around with various things. Find what works for you and stick with it while improving on what you’ve learned through experience. Comprehend and copy nature is the best advice I can give!

  21. I think I repotted mine too early they won’t grow and the other ones are too close together looks like I won’t be getting any zucchini or squash this year 🙁

  22. Anybody heard of the Kalettes plant that is a cross between a brussels sprout and a kale plant?

  23. Not sure that you haven't covered this, but can you grow squash vertically if they are planted in a container?
