I Know It’s Hard But You NEED To Hear This Now!

In today’s 2 minute garden tip, I share a simple truth that gardeners need to hear right now. Fall gardening season is upon us, but many gardeners quit during the summer despite their better judgment. Don’t let the summer heat destroy your passion. I know it’s hard, but you need to hear this now!

In a recent viewer poll, 49% of my viewers said Fall was their favorite season. It’s also the perfect time of year for gardening! A fall garden produces abundance without the heat, humidity, storms and insect pests of a summer garden, but in order to grow a fall garden, you have to start plants in summer. Many growers feel burnt out from summer heat, so they quit too early, then regret it later. Don’t let the summer heat beat you! Keep the passion flowering and grow bigger than you ever have before!

Here are 24 veggies you can plant in August RIGHT NOW!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fVjuzxX5UU

  1. Can't plant now 110 degrees. Native trees are. Dying. I have lost less then most. I have no room in house to doing seed trays. Love all you do for us!! AZ

  2. Call me crazy but I love Summer thunderstorms plus when the heats a blazing there is nothing better than hanging in the pool with a nice cold one!! Having said that I’ve never even considered growing a fall garden. But I’m going to change that. I just have to figure out what I want to grow. Life is short so we don’t want to ever say I should have or I could have but didn’t. Thanks for the reminder!

  3. Haha this is so accurate. Falls probably my favorite season too. After a whole summer of gardening we never end up eating all the tomatoes, etc and you're just kind of done. I am going to try some fall gardening this year though, and planting onions and garlic. It's 108 degrees in Northern California today, I'm already done with summer.

Oh I also starred a bunch of fig cuttings this summer, can't wait to see how they do. Putting tu cuttings in a cup of water inside the house where it's cooler had a 100% success rate vs putting them in dirt outside that was like 25% success.

  4. We have 2 seasons here in NE FL with gardening as well as honeybees! Thanks for all of the great information.

  5. Lol you are using your Dale voice a little. I am usually in denial that summer is ending ( my fav season).

  6. This heat of 104 EVERY DAY WITH ZERO WIND EVEN IS REALLY GOTTEN .E AND EVERYONE DOWN.

  7. Actually, I'm just planting quick fall crops as well as lettuces, etc. I head your warning 😉

  8. No chance, dude! I'm exhausted from chasing zucchini (from my ONE plant!!!) and squash & tomatoes & figs & omg the tomatillos, to say nothing of having gone rose-crazy this summer & having 20 potted roses that I just want to sit down in the shade & enjoy. Seriously, one of the reasons I love fall is the harvesting, but as a senior lady who also has other hobbies, I'm looking forward to some rest. Did I mention the pear tree that's gone street-rat crazy & is literally falling down from such a huge crop & bad me, I didn't prune it properly b/c it's just a baby & I didn't expect it to explode this way. Yup, I'm tired, but thanks for the pep talk anyhow…maybe next year.

  9. Here in Texas when it is so hot, 105-110 goes on and on, I start planting black eyed peas. I plan on eating them as green beans when they are young. They love this crazy heat! I will plant other things as soon as it gets back to the 90's.

  10. Spring/summer was just too depressing. Pests, heat, inexperience = Nothing produced. I’m not sure I can take any more heartbreak!

  11. In the last two weeks (from 23rd July 2023 till today 6th august) we have had rain, storms, cold, no sunshine – every day. During the nights we have 50°F (10°C), during the days we have 65°F (18°C). Always cold, always dark, it is like in october. And there is no change in sight, they say it will last all august. It is only a matter of time till my tomatoes and peppers are going to die, either from the rain, the storms or the cold, take a pick. Garden season 2023 is over. I live in Germany.

  12. In AZ fall is when we get a little humidity finally combined with tolerable temps. It is still summer in AZ until October though. Also we get pretty windy in fall compared to summer.

  13. I wish I could post a photo. My cabbage, broccoli Raab, eggplant, cilantro, Dill, snap peas, and my 3rd round of Beets have all germinated within the last few days. So excited for my fall garden this year (zone 7a). We have a very short growing season in the high desert, and this year has had some crazy challenges. Yes. It's been unusually hot HOWEVER…once I got my beds cleaned up and prepped for fall crops, the motivation hit me like a brick and I started debating whether or not I should pull a mid season plant out because I need the real estate (vertical growing here). Needless to say… everything germinated within a few days and I'll be fertilizing this next week because true leaves are already sprouting. Yay for fall. My favorite!

  14. I’m not there yet, but by the end of August when I’m tired of cutting grass & trimming & things are dead. I call it the Summer doldrums…

  15. What happened to the 2 Minute Garden Tips? Way too much dialogue and little tips. I may have to unsubscribe. I think u Tubers are getting too analyzing how people think and that is just too much noninformation. Keep it simple like you use to do. That is the reason I subscribed.

  16. Wonderful, inspiring video. I have never had much luck at fall gardening, but I think I will try it again. I am in zone 8b in the Pacific Northwest and it seems like the cold, dreary days of fall discourage the plants from reaching harvest, even though our first frost date isn't until October 23ish. Also, the climate is perfect for powdery mildew to attack everything. Usually I'm just happy if I get my garden all put to bed before winter sets in.

  17. If you want to enjoy many more seasons than those given in this life, believe on the Lord Jesus for eternal life. We have all broken God’s law, we find ourselves helpless, hopeless and hell bound in need of salvation from sin’s penalty. Thankfully, God provides a means of justification whereby all sinners can be forgiven and made righteous. God made manifest in the flesh, Jesus Christ, lived a sinless life and took our penalty on the cross and rose again. The moment an individual believes on Christ, trusting him alone, they are forgiven of all sins and made righteous in the sight of God.

  18. Anthony, I really learn a lot from your channels. I have several problems with my garden. As with the rest I have humid and rainy weather. I'm in NE Tennessee and everything is steamy. I have on my Cherokee tomato something called tomato Russeting. I had to get a app for garden diseases and this is the same. Wet any humid weather causes this. Don't know how to send a picture but you can Google it. I can't change the weather so I'll see what happens. Thank you for your hard work.

  19. I’m out on this heat creating a bigger growing area. I’m sweating like a you know what I’m church but only through tough work will we enjoy the fruits of our labor 😅💪🏼
