  1. Wow Kaye you are making good progress. Love it
It's so healing to see all that life just florishing

  2. Kaye, when black berry or black raspberry plants are young they will not produce. I purchased a black berry cane/bush about 3 years ago and this is the first year of SUCH ABUNDANCE!!! The red canes (fruit bearing) you need to cut back. The green ones (new growth) are the fruit bearing if they come from an established plant. There are all kinds of names permacane and primocane and I get them mixed up. I just look at the color of the cane. The Darrow Black Berry is the one that produces thumb size berries. My yard is also lined with wild black and red raspberries. When the canes droop over and touch the ground they are propagating/rooting. Simply snip the middle and you have a new plant. If not dig it up. Hope this helps anyone else reading this. You are amazing that you can work in that heat with long sleeves!!!

  3. blackberry vines that didn’t bloom are usually the newer canes that will fruit next year. they are a lot of work to manage. basically at end of season, you cut to the ground the canes that fruited this season, then tie up the canes that didn’t fruit for next year.

  4. From what I saw in your video you trimmed your canes that already beared fruit and ripped out the next seasons berry canes. In essence you need to cut back to the ground the red canes. Keep the green canes. I panicked when I saw you ripping up healthy plants and discarding them.

  5. Researching planting Asparagus. Is it OK to buy crowns & plant now for Spring? JClaire-81, (Very Late Bloomer)💕

  6. I love fried eggplant and fried okra! Grandma grew and cooked both. She also canned okra. There was pickled okra and dilled okra. One was slimy and one was not but don't remember which was which.

  7. The rains sure cause everything to grow don't they? I have not been a fan of okra but my only exposure was in a restaurant which was most likely not the best. Hope you don't get into that poison ivy again but the oriental lady's thumb might come in handy. I think blackberries will grow out of control if you let them and need some restrictions to avoid crowding out other crops. Enjoy your harvests and have a blessed day..

  8. There is a steakhouse here in Spring, Tx that serves whole fried okra, not cut up : it is crispy and is not drowned in batter. Also I do love eggplant and yours look beautiful. I would not give you a C- but a B+++😊

  9. Your old blackberry canes will die back and send out new shoots. Those new blackberry canes don’t bear flowers in their first year. They would however be loaded down with blooms and then berries the following year. Maybe take notes for each of your plants so you know what they are doing naturally. A garden notebook helps a great deal.

  10. So much loveliness! We have wild blackberries all around here, and the arctic blast got them. Needless to say, we only got a whew berries and the chickens got most of those. I'm praying that next year is better.

  11. Wonderful video; I learn something new everytime I watch. Thank you for continuing to inspire this Late Bloomer….I am still hopeful to obtain small acreage in the country. You are on the money when you talk about "community," that is very important. Thank you so much Kaye!😊🐱 as always…love the kitties.

  12. Okra is very good for people, it helps with lowering my numbers with my diabetes. Especially the picked okra. 😊

  13. Blackberries have no thorns? Here wild berries always have thorns. Try Dr Earths berry fertilizer its awsome.

  14. Great video Kaye! My goodness, you have worked so hard, and it is definitely paying off. Did you ever imagine, when, you were a young actress in Hollywood, that you would someday, be living on a beautiful homestead and gardening? 😊
