Great Gardens Begin With Great Tools. But there seems to be as many tools to choose from as there are plants…not helpful! There is hope however. You really don’t need a lot in the way of tools to get started.
All gardening really involves is digging, watering, and cuttings. I’ll show you the basic 3 necessities in Garden Hardware that you’ll need to have a successful garden this spring. In addition, I’ll share two extra items that while highly beneficial, are completely optional. 🙂

Nope I’m keeping my hands dirty
It’s the fun way doing gardening
Hello good evening happy Sunday I watching from qatar god bless power more loveyou
Broadfork.
I use a bulb planter that works perfect for planting transplants. Takes a perfect size plug/hole for planting and has a button you push that opens up the end to release plug of dirt.
Really cool.
Thank you
Sanitary measures : do not forget to use methanol to sanitize your pruners every time you cut off roses, fruit trees, gooseberries… Rose plants are full of bacteria that will spread into your apple and peer trees and vice-versa. I use a bit of olive oil to maintain the joints of my pruners.
This is going to be my first year making an honest attempt at planting vegetables (instead of just throwing seeds and seeing what grows) so thank you for giving me a good starting place!
Agree with your list. I would add seed starter equipment for people in certain zones if they want certain crops. Also a nod to a Hori Hori as a nice to have bonus 🙂 Great vid! I have been binge watching your stuff, wouldn't mind seeing a few more walks in that great forest again!

That first shovel you showed looked like a feed scoop. I've never used a hand shovel like that; before. The one that I have is narrower and has marks on it. I think they are meant for bulb planting; but, they still work for digging holes for plants. I also have a tool that I nicknamed the Claw. It's like a miniature rake; but, with 4 tines instead. I have a pair of anvil pruners that can cut through some pretty thick stems; but, for the stems that are thicker than my pruners can handle, I have loppers that can take down a 2 inch thick sunflower stem. I have a pair of leather driving gloves that I can use for gardening; but, my favorite are the Eco-Fiber gloves. They are made of bamboo.
Thank You
Love your videos! Sharing!
I sew, and this year I'm making a harvesting apron. I'll design it with a large but stable pouch and over the neck and shoulders support. It will allow me to harvest things like beans, tomatoes, and okra using both hands rather than one holding a bowl or having to walk back to the bowl or bucket with hands full of veg. I used a make shift one last year, but this year I'm designing and sewing one up. Hopefully it will be better than a makeshift shirt basket–gathering up your t-shirt in the front to carry the harvest into the house. 🤪
