Horizontal always looks so much better. I wish I did it that way. I did mine the shadow box becuz I wanted air flow. We still have privacy, and the fence last longer.
Please treat it though with some quality stuff so it will last. Nice job, lots of labor and money there. Need to lock the moisture in now before they start warping.
Now here's a question… I understand you didn't want to dig do to roots n ground conditions. But why did you not cut out the grass in the dead space between the chain link and wood fences ? How do you intent to cut out grass, weeds, and possible trees that will grow in this space now ? And even if it's pressure treated it needs sealed/stained. Even with the 2×4 center braces they will start to warp.
Nothing like wasting your money to then have to pay someone to tear down that fence and then build one correctly haha paid for one fence three times at that point
dont let these dorks hate an actual fencer would loove you for building it like that. Only 8in of concrete? Man I'd be at the bar by 12 celebrating my easy ass day loool. Wouldn't even need my jack hammer. Plus dont worry just sell your house before it blows down you got like 2 or 3 years at leeeast.
Why not just buy a couple of privacy fences with the slots? Install posts, slide in the boards. Then attach burlap or cloth for more privacy and continuous air flow. Then your done!
Why is the good side of the fence on your side? Shouldn't it be on your neighbors side? Or does it not matter because you're building it on the side of an existing fence and therefore it doesn't matter?
Those boards are going to warp heavily without being nailed down in the center, I'd give it 2-3 years before you'll have to replace it or deal with some serious gaps in the fence. It does look nice though!
